You may remember that we mentioned Star Trek Gummies a while back. Well, I finally had my chance to try them at the All Candy Expo and found them delightful.

After introducing myself, a very pleasant gentleman offered to give me a box so I could write a review when I got home. Of course, it turned out that another guy at the booth was completely against the idea – they didn’t have enough, they were sold out, blah blah blah. Nice Guy overrode Mean Guy, though, and slipped me a box so I could revel in the gummy yumminess. (Then he had to tell another lady who wasn’t a preeminent candy reviewer that she couldn’t have any – hah!)

U.S.S. Enterprise Star Trek Gummies

In case you hadn’t heard, the new Star Trek movie is coming out today, and I am one Candy Addict who just can’t wait to see it. I’m not only a Candy Addict, but a geek too! Star Trek is a huge licensing/merchandising opportunity for products (like Star Trek t-shirts) and candy is even joining the fray too.

We wrote about some Star Trek gummies a little while back and the Limited Edition Star Trek Pez is already out and now we find out about more Star Trek candy: Star Trek USS Enterprise Gummi Candy.

We don’t have too much information about them other than they are $5 for a bag (they better taste good at that price) and the extremely cheesy copy on their website:

Coming this April, new Star Trek Gummies! They’ll debut just before the new movie comes out. Check out the cool box and (you know it’s coming)… Live Long and Prosper!

March 27, 2009, Santa Monica, CA – Taste of Nature, Inc. the manufacturer of Cookie Dough Bites, Muddy Bears, Sqwigglies, The Simpsons Fruit Snacks, Cotton Candy Swirlz, Care Bears Gummi Bears and Shari Candies has announced this month that they will be debuting Star Trek Gummies at All Candy Expo in May of 2009. The candies will be available for sale starting at the end of April of 2009 – a couple of weeks before Paramount releases the blockbuster Star Trek movie on May 8th.

The 3.5 ounce Star Trek Gummies are available in open stock 30ct and 12ct cases as well as 72ct floor shippers! The suggested retail price is $1.29 to $1.49.

Star Trek has had a loyal following for decades. With the combination of the built-in fan base, high profile Summer release of Star Trek and the sharp Star Trek graphics, a brisk sell-through is virtually guaranteed.
