Easter eggs! This is the time of year when you have oodles and oodles of options. Do you want hard candy shells that protect a layer of chocolate goodness? Or maybe you prefer them filled… with peanut butter? Or marshmallow? Or fondant? Each spring, I become so embarrassingly giddy, so overwhelmed by the sheer volume of delectable eggs available for purchase, that I end up buying a veritable mountain of them – which I then hoard to get me through those long summer months when the only kinds of eggs you can buy are hard boiled or scrambled. Some Easter eggs are so delicious that I can’t imagine hoarding them for any longer than a couple of days. Sometimes, it’s all I can do to keep from ripping into the package while I’m waiting in line at the cash register. See’s Assorted Decorated Eggs are like that.

According to the wrappers decorating the new Bosco milk chocolate bars, Bosco is “America’s most beloved chocolate syrup brand†and they’ve been making “memories since 1928â€. Well, I was not around in 1928, so in order to review this chocolate properly, I decided to enlist the help of someone who was: my mother. Just kidding, she’s not that old, but she still came in pretty handy for this review. My mom grew up near Chicago and, indeed, remembered Bosco Chocolate Syrup. She said that she preferred to use it when making chocolate milk because, unlike traditional Hershey’s chocolate syrup, it was made with malt, and apparently malt makes the difference. I wondered if my Mom would enjoy the chocolate bar as much as the chocolate syrup she loved as a child, so I took my box-o’-chocolate home with me over spring break, and we got to eating.
Candy Review: Ghirardelli Caramel Latte Chocolate Bar

The Ghirardelli Caramel Latte chocolate bar is a limited-edition bar in Ghiradelli’s filled chocolate bar line. Having lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for several years myself, I have to admit I am a teensy bit biased in Ghirardelli’s favor. And, as a native Portlander, I am way biased in favor of anything that has to do with coffee… as long as it’s good coffee.

Candy Review: Red Light Chocolates
Categories: Candy,Candy Reviews,Chocolate Candy,Gourmet CandyIt’s not often that I get to review a local candy but I got an email recently from a chocolate company that just happens to be local to me – Red Light Chocolates. After a couple of emails, I was in possession of a beautiful box of their artisanal chocolates to try.
Red light Chocolates use the finest, freshest ingredients they can find. All of their flavorings are natural – pure fruit purees, organic mint leaves, and Madagascar vanilla beans to name a few. All of their artisanal chocolates are handmade in small batches. They don’t use preservatives, so they encourage you to enjoy the chocolates within two weeks of receiving them. Sounds delicious, doesn’t it?
