Plopp – gooey, brown, and … tasty?

I thought Asse was the worst name for a chocolate candy, then I find this. If Plopp isn’t the worst it’s a strong second. Evidently it’s been around since 1949 and it’s described as “Milk Chocolate Bar, filled with Soft Toffeé” and it looks like the caramel part of a Necco Sky Bar. FYI – Plopp’s maker, Cloetta has a 22% market share in Nordic countries (no wonder I haven’t heard of it).

Mini People In Chocolate (and other food)

Mini People Sawing Chocolate

Check out this great page of mini people on/near food doing things that actually make sense – some are even funny. You’ll see things like bikers cycling around a round pastry, workers pulling seeds out of watermelon, and yardwork on the surface of kiwis. Only one of them (the men cutting chocolate) is candy-related, but all of the pictures are just incredible and worth checking out. My favorite (besides the men sawing the chocolate) is the astronauts on the creme brulee.

UPDATE: David from WayAwesome.com pointed me to the original source of these pics (and there are a few more there). Go to http://mapage.noos.fr/minimiam/go.htm (it’s Flash) then click on “Galerie” – there are five categories of these “mini people on food”.

Gummi Condoms

Gummi Condoms

There are many gross gummi candies I can eat: worms, fish, spiders, rats, brains, and eyeballs. There is one gummi candy I don’ t think I could bring myself to eat: gummi condoms. Everyone say it with me: “EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!”

I stumbled on this picture on Flickr a while back but saved posting it til now, before Valentine’s Day. I’m not even sure what this would say to someone if you gave it to him/her for Valentine’s Day.

From the caption on the photo:

I think that the Japanese are obsessed with making a jelly version of everything they possibly can. We didn’t even get this in an adult store. It was at Don Quixote with a bunch of other snacks.

Notice how realistic the wrapper is and notice that the front of the box says “STOP THE AIDS!”

Photoshop: Candy For Thought

Smores Technology

Over at Worth1000.com they recently had a photoshop contest called Food For Thought:

The rules of this game are thus: You may use any picture you can think of, but there must be an organic food somewhere in the photo and it must be in lieu of an item that one would normally expect to see.

Despite candy not being exactly organic, there are a surprising number of candy entries. Here are all the candy entries I found:

Candy Heart Art

Candy heart art

Artist Moira Hann has some amazing pieces of art, but this one stands out for me – it’s made with those Valentine’s candy hearts! Check out this blog post to see some close-up pictures of it (to prove it is made of candy) and visit her artist website to see more of her art (though I didn’t see any other pieces made with candy).
