CLASSIC CARAMEL TO MANUFACTURE AND DISTRIBUTE BONOMO TURKISH TAFFY®
CAMP HILL, PA Classic Caramel, LLC is pleased to announce that is has signed agreements with Bonomo Turkish Taffy®, LLC to manufacture and be the master distributor to the retail trade for Bonomo®.
Bonomo®, one of the great nostalgic candy brands, has not been commercially manufactured or sold since the mid 1980’s. Bonomo® was a true national brand in the 1950’s and 1960’s. The company’s tagline, “Smack it Crack It!â€, was realized by consumers as they smacked the taffy against a hard surface and ate the pieces off the wrapper.
The original formulation, manufacturing process, and even the original flavors have been resurrected. “In taste testing, the comments from those that remember the bar have been very complimentary, ‘just like they remembered it’ is the frequent comment†says Ken Wiesen, President and Co-CEO of Bonomo®.
“Bonomo® is truly a revered old fashioned candy brand with a unique taste and formulation that currently does not exist in the market. Classic Caramel is thrilled that this brand is joining our family of other nostalgic brands, Slo Poke®, BB Bats®, Kits®, & Flipsticksâ„¢. We look forward to bringing this favorite candy back to its loyal fans and to create a whole new generation of Bonomo Turkish Taffy loversâ€, commented Richard Warrell, Director of Sales & Marketing.
Bonomo will be available in its original bar format, as well as bite size individually wrapped pieces. The bite size pieces will be available in an assorted change maker tub as well as straight flavor bulk. Product will be available for shipment July 2010.

I hope this site is the real thing. We “Baby Boomers” have searched the web again and again hoping to hear some news of Bonomo’s Turkish Taffy being available for purchase.
June 15th, 2010 at 1:10 pmI have craved Bonmo Turkish Taffy for years and there are a large number of Boomers that are craving it too.
I hope you will make some type of public announcement. I am certain the response will be tremendous.
I even contacted the Tootsie Roll company a few years ago and was told the recipe had been sold to an unnamed company and the product would be available soon.
Today was one of my routine searches for any news concerning this product and I struck GOLD!!!!!
PLEASE SEND ME AN EMAIL WHEN THE BONOMO TURKISH TAFFY IS AVAILABLE FOR ORDERING. MY MOUTH IS WATERING ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!
I have always loved Bonomo turkish taffy. especially the vanilla,, then the banana and then the strawberry. The closest I have come to it is called French Chews which is close to Bonomo but nothing as good as Bonomo. Send me an e-mail when you find out how to order it. and how much. the French chews sell for like 75 cents each.
June 25th, 2010 at 8:31 pmIt’s not the same!! I just received a shipment of the revived Bonomo’s Turkish Taffy in Vanilla which I had pre-ordered from candy.com. It does not taste the same. I have been craving this vanilla for decades, and it is definitely a different recipe. In fact, it is creamier in color than the original and wider in width. I am so disappointed!!!
June 27th, 2010 at 4:51 pmI received Bonomo Turkish Taffy after its long absence from the stores. Vanilla was always my favorite but I decided to try all four flavors. The wrapping was exactly as I recall, except it is no longer folded but sealed. I guess that’s due to heath regulations. The bars came in a few different sizes through the years 50′s, 60′s and 70′s. The 1.5 oz bar that I received was what I recall in weight and size from the 60′s through mid 70′s.
The texture and smack-it crack-it properties were as I remember from the old days. The ability to crack it or stretch it was just as I remember. The creamy and delicious taste immediately took be back 25 years. The color of all the flavors were just the same as I recall from my local candy store in Brooklyn. The color of the vanilla was as white as white can be and I can’t understand what one of the other writers could have been referring to when she said it was creamy colored.
The flavors were great. The vanilla was rich with a slight taste of marshmallow and the chocolate was mild coco flavor, the banana a classic yummy banana and the strawberry surprisingly good.
I loved them all and feel that there is no doubt that the original Bonomo Turkish Taffy is back!
July 20th, 2010 at 12:31 pmI also grew up with our “sidewalk taffy”….Bonomo! I have searched forever for this awesome candy. Today my son came home from work with vanilla and banana Bonomo! Yahoo! What a great surprise. He remembered me telling stories about Bonomo. Thanks for bringing back a great memory…now my children can have the same experience!

January 10th, 2011 at 12:30 amI agree, I was so disappointed with what I purchased at Christmas. The color was not white more of a cream color and when I whacked it, it wasn’t a crack it was more like a crumble. The texture was way off, very sugary not at all like taffy. I really hope that I just got a bad batch.
January 18th, 2011 at 10:34 pmOn the money! Purchased it from a local Cracker Barrel. For those of you who don’t have one in your area, it’s a restaurant attached to a gift shop which sells nostalgic type merchandise, especially candy. The only flavors that carry as of now are banana and vanilla.Vanilla was always my favorite (as it seems from reading, others as well) and still is! I smacked it cracked it and attacked it : )along with my son, who I acted as though it was just to display what to do with it. But I thoroughly enjoyed doing that. It brought me back to being an 8 year old in 1973 and not being able to wait to eat it until I got home. I ate it right there with my sister at Somerset Farms – the little mom and pop shop in Hopatcong New Jersey. It tasted exactly the same and looked pretty darn close. Thank God it’s back.
