Candy Tattoos – How Sweet Is That Tatt?

M&M Candy TattooRecently I’ve been addicted to watching the show Miami Ink. One of the more compelling reasons to watch this show is to hear all the different reasons why people get inked in the first place. For some, it’s a reminder of a person or event. For others, it’s just an expression of themselves or their artwork. Clearly there are some Candy Addicts out there who use tattooing as a means of expression for their true love as well.

One has to wonder what this person was thinking when he got this tattoo… is he that terrified of green M n’ M’s? Did he have some sort of a bad experience with small chocolate candies? Also the shoes look a little odd… not to mention I’m not exactly sure what screaming demons/skulls have do with with innocent and sweet candy. I’m afraid the meaning behind this one totally escapes me.

Gonzo Pez Tattoo
This one is also a bit disturbing… Gonzo? And Pez? Together? Hmmm… the stuff of nightmares, clearly! Either way it’s not exactly my idea of a gorgeous tatt. I did, however, think it would be pretty amusing if you could get a Pez dispenser to dispense candy at high speed like that!

Candy Heart Tattoo
This one I think is quite beautiful – expresses the person’s love of all things candy without being totally awful or disturbing. It’s amazing how many candy related tattoos are out there – there are in fact whole groups of people who have candy tattoos. I have to say that one’s Candy Addiction must be pretty extreme if you’re out there getting permanent candy art. I was stunned at the number of candy-related tattoos I could find just via a simple Google search. Clearly there is a whole sub-set of tattoos out there which I didn’t even know existed! While I don’t think I’ll be running out to get my own candy tattoo, it is amusing to think about what the ravages of time might to do to, say, a giant gummy bear tattoo…

  1. The first one made me laugh. Some people get their tats modified to fix old, outdated, or drunken mistakes. So, I wouldn’t be too surprised of either was for that reason.

  2. Well. I’ve always wanted a tattoo, but never thought about including candy in it. Considering what a candy addict I am, that kinda surprises me. But my passion for music is from birth so that’s what I’ve focused on in regards to a tatt. Still too chicken to get one, though!

Now I have some cool candy ideas, however, but hmmm, do I want a permanent rendition of the new Milky Way with extra caramel that I’m currently addicted to forever inked on my forearm? Don’t think so. Perhaps a nice Yoda Pez (my favorite)? Or some chocolate and candy sushi? Gummi fruits with cartoon faces?

Mixing music notes and a G-clef, rainbow colors and some kind of candy sounds a bit too cutesy for me. Maybe I’ll just keep chickening out and therefore have no dilemma!

  3. I just got back from a trip to my former hometown–a visit that seems to necessitate getting a new tattoo. For the second time, when I left the shop, the artists included a Blowpop in my aftercare package. And no, my tattoos are not of candy, but the free lollipop made me feel better after an hour of getting needled.

  4. The middle one is awesome. I got it as a tribute to my mom. She gave me a PEZ dispenser for every holiday or birthday since I was 5.
