Do you think our esteemed leader was trying to tell me something when he sent me a box full of different kinds of mints to review from the All Candy Expo? My pores are going to ooze peppermint for weeks! I don’t have a problem with that, though, especially after trying IQ Elements Mint-Drops. The German company hooked us up with four minty flavors of their football-shaped mint drops, which contain various nutrients purported to improve your body and soul. They come in attractive, easy-open bags with photos of the four elements.

Retro Candy Review: Chuckles: Worth The Laugh

Chuckles Jelly Candy is one of those retro candies that I’ve noticed on select shelves but never felt the need to give a try. Until now, that is.
Chuckles are the product of confectioner Fred W. Amend who created them in 1921. These gummies were a result of Amend trying to keep gummies from “sweating” inside their packaging, while his wife gave them their playful name. They became extremely popular and starting around WWII began a very long run of successful advertising campaigns. “Purest candy tastes just dandy, keep it handy!” The fact that they still exist today is a testament to the quality and yumminess of this particular treat.
Candy Review: Sweet Earth Chocolates

I was recently sent a box full of treats from Sweet Earth Chocolates, a California-based chocolate company that prides itself on selling organic, fair-trade treats. A portion of Sweet Earth’s profits go to support Project Hope and Fairness, a non-profit organization that supports cocoa farmers in Africa by promoting sustainability, agricultural education, and fair-trade practices.
The package that Sweet Earth sent included this info, as well as beautifully wrapped chocolate bars, clusters, and peanut butter cups.
Candy Review: Chewy Atomic Fireballs

I have a special place in my heart tastebuds for Atomic Fireballs. When I was a kid I would buy them by the box (160 in a box for $3.20). So, when I saw the new Chewy Atomic Fireballs at the All Candy Expo, I nearly did a backflip. Could chewy Fireballs be as good (or dare I say, better) than the Atomic Fireballs I have grown to know and love?
The Chewy Atomic Fireballs come in small 1 oz. boxes like Lemonheads do (and they now make Chewy Lemonheads too – review on the way) and retail for $0.25. The box is red and colorful and even has a small warning label that says “Caution: Extreme Heat!” The Chewy Fireballs themselves are about the size of a Lemonhead. They’re also exactly like jellybeans in that they have a sugary/grainy outer coating around a jelly-like ball.
Candy Review: X-it Sugar-free Gum, Mints, and Bonbons
If I’ve learned anything about gum recently it’s this: gum isn’t just for chewing anymore. No, nowadays it freshens your breath, entertains your taste buds, even sends caffeine coursing through your system. X-it Sugarfree is no exception. In addition to X-it Sugarfree Gum, I also received several different types of mints and bonbons. I have enough gum and mints to keep my breath fresh for a decade.
What’s my favorite thing about these X-it products? Honestly, its the packaging. Each product comes in an attractive tin that tucks easily into your purse or pocket, guarding the lining against spillage. Even better, the tiny mints come in tins with black plastic lining that dispenses a couple at a time – even more protection against spillage!
