William Wrigley Sr., the founder of Wrigley, was born on this date, September 30, in 1861. Let’s take a few moments to appreciate where we would be right now without the wonderful products from Wrigley: Doublemint, Big Red, Juicy Fruit, Winterfresh, Extra, Freedent, Orbit, Eclipse, Hubba Bubba, Big League Chew, Altoids, Life Savers, and Creme Savers – to name a few.
Candy Addict was started on October 2, two days after the birthday of William Wrigley Sr. – coincidence? I think so.

On October 2, 2007 Candy Addict will be two years old. My how far we’ve come. To celebrate, instead of you giving us gifts, we are giving you gifts – candy gifts! We have a bunch of great, new candy from the All Candy Expo to give away like: Tung Toos, Beanboozled jellybeans, Wonka candy, Dove chocolates, Güd Füd marshmallows, Chewy Lemonheads and Chewy Atomic Fireballs, and much, much more! Some of it hasn’t even hit stores yet!
Also, a bunch of candy companies have donated lots of candy and other goodies for the giveaway. Companies like:

This contest/giveaway is open to anyone on Earth over 18 years of age (though I’ll probably be kicking myself when the cost to ship overseas costs me $100).
Want your dessert with a side of fire? Serendipity Chocolates has come up with a way to provide just that. Hades Chocolate Truffles are infused with fresh, dried and smoked peppers that are sure to send you gasping for a glass of milk (rumored to be the best drink to counteract intense spiciness).
I’m a huge fan of both chocolate and food so spicy it scalds my tongue, but at $28 for 12-14 of these truffles, I’ll just hold out and hope somebody sends me a box for my birthday.
I dig Toblerone bars, but I’m more apt to shove them in my mouth than to scrutinize the packaging. Neatorama brought the “hidden” bear in its logo to our attention – once you see it, you will never unsee it!
A little research tells us that Toblerone candy originated in Bern, Switzerland, a city whose name is rumored to mean “City of Bears.” Incredibly obvious now, isn’t it?
