  1. I remember them at the local store near my cabin, and how they had those old labels for so many years. Great memories. I have put a link up at RetroWinnipeg.

  2. Oh my gosh Ring Pops!! What memories! I remember getting all gooey and loving every sticky minute of it!!

  3. I remember when we would play house & pretend that our ring pops were our wedding rings and we had all the money in the world!!!!! I have to confess, even now they make me feel that way :)

  4. There was a neighborhood market where I lived growing up.My girlfriends & I would go there everyday to buy jewlery (ring pops). We would admire them for hours and try to match them close as we could to our candy necklaces hahahahah. We would end up eating both by the end of the day. I think back now and know why I love colored stones in jewlery now days! hahaha

  5. When I was a kid I felt so glamorous licking my ringpop while smoking a candy cigarette… good times.

  6. My ode to the Ring Pop:
They say you should hate your 30s,
    but Ring Pops shouldn’t frown,
    because ask any candy lover
and they’ll say Ring Pops wear the crown!
Since I’m an unmarried woman, my ring finger only knows
the sugar sweet bling of a Ring Pop and the cherry red it glows.
Someday I may just get a diamond, but I won’t soon forget,
For the next 30 years, there’ll be a Ring Pop next to it!

  7. I know someone who popped the question to his girlfriend using a ring pop as a stand in for an engagement ring. Among the other amazingly fun things they did for their wedding, the favors for the guests were ring pops. I think I still have mine…

  8. My big problem was that I was always big for my age (Not weight, just in general) so Ring Pops never fit right, and when they did I’d end up getting all sticky from them anyways.

    They were always delicious though.

  9. Hehe I remember when my mom bought ring pops and hid them so my brothers would not devour them. I always asked my mom where they were she would never tell me >.

  10. I love Ring pops! My friends and I would eat the candy and make wishes on the base. I know my wishes always came true! Even if I am all grown-up now and married I’ll still take off my wedding rings for my Ring Pops!

  11. A Ring Pop haiku:

    Watermelon gem
I hold you up to the sun
    Squint through pink sweetness

  12. R-uby red cherry bomb
    I-nstant sweetness
    N-othing as simple
G-ood to the last lick (which was so hard to get to)
    P-recisely what the doctor ordered
    O-ver too soon
P-recious candy rocks my little saccharine world!

  13. My two favorite memories of ring pops are from when I was little. I remember my big brother buying me a wooden chest for my birthday. He made it into a treasure chest by filling it with candy necklaces, chocolate gold coins and of corse ring pops! I also remember in third grade a certain boy that I had a crush on proposed to me with a ring pop, hee hee. I know we were young and it wasn’t a serious thing, but looking back I think it was cute :)

  14. My fave thing to do growing up in the 80′s was to dip ring pops into unsweetened kool-aid.

  15. Ring Pops are perfect for those on the verge of being grown-up. In the split second between spotting your friends and dropping your hand from your face to your side, you can go from licking a lollipop to simply wearing a fabulous ring.

I’ve often wondered if Liz Taylor’s extra weight is from eating her jewelry. She certainly has plenty, and sometimes the only friend watching is Michael Jackson.

  16. I love Ring Pops! These have been around since I’ve been alive, lol! Now my kids love them..and often they have individual Ring Pops at the checkout counter and the kids often fight with me about getting them, lol! This is the only candy out of that whole mess that stands out to them.

My favorites are strawberry and watermelon! =) I haven’t tried the newer flavors though.

  17. One of my favorite “5 second rule” stories is about how I once dropped a ring pop on the floor of the photography dark room in high school. It fell behind a table, and seeing as how it was relatively exposed to photo development chemicals, I decided to let it go. However, about two months later, I had a candy craving that would not go away. Remembering the ring pop, I went back in the dark room, literally peeled it off the floor, ran it under a faucet for a few minutes, and then proceeded to eat it. I didn’t die or anything, and it goes to show how resilient ring pops are. Ring pops 4 life!

  18. For some odd reason, I remember sucking on these when I was in the bathtub, which would explain why I didn’t have to deal with a sticky mess! I love these things.

  19. It’s a juicy jewel of flavor, ring pop! It’s a lollipop without a stick, a ring of flavor you can lick!

What a good jingle. It sure made me want them. But they were hard to find where I grew up (note to makers of ring pop: the children of Silver Spring, Maryland are in desperate need). For some reason the only place I could find them was the pool my best friend’s fam belonged to and since my parents went to the stupid YMCA, which had only lame (compared to ring pop) vending machine snack options like cheetos or gum, my ring pops were few and far between. So they certainly have a special place in my heart.

  20. Ring pops are red, purple, and green
Ring pops are some of the best candy I’ve seen
They’re pretty and yummy and sticky and fun
You can store them on your finger when you’re on the run
When you eat a ring pop down to the nub
You know you are member of the candy addict club
So get a ring pop that’s as smooth and clear as glass
‘Cause you know that as candy goes, Ring Pops kick some @!!

  21. I used to go to the corner store all the time after doing my paper route and would buy some ring pops. my mom would always say, ” how can you spend your money on such meaningless candy?” I just smiled and said, I LOVE THEM!!!!

    my email is rob@simpsonfanclub.com

  22. My early memories of ringpops consited of a freind whom I never saw without one in his mouth. I was about five at the time and every time I saw him he always had a different ringpop to eat. Throughout the years he has had some tooth and gum problems, but his sweet-tooth is still indulged everyone once in a while with a good old ringpop. I’d donate the whole box to him if I won!

  23. I love how they taste, that shockingly sweet jilt when i slooshy my tongue all around it when it’s newly opened.

My horible parents hardly ever buy that much candy because theyre health freaks, so it would mean a lot to me to have a lovely box of ringpops in a draw somewhere.
I can picture a lovely hung of candy-jewel on my finger right now…please pick mer!!

  24. Ring Pop
    the flavors always on hand
    at the local candy stand

    Not real original but
my brain is without a sugar kick.
If I win this box I can get
a fix with just one lick.

    OHHH, they are getting worse.

  25. Ring Pops were my favorite thing about childhood. I remember how I’d save up my allowance for that super sweet bling! Strawberry being my Ring Pop of choice, I’d color coordinate my outfit and I’d be the coolest kid on the playground. And ohh when a boyfriend gave you one – you were his for life! (or until you found someone better in the 4th grade lunch hall!) Ring Pops will always be a part of my history!

  26. Ring pops are fun, in part because they are a “hands free” – or at least “palms free” – candy that you can eat while wearing, provided you have tiny fingers. Another perk is that, from a distance, in poor light or if the observer has bad vision, they can appear to be incredibly gaudy jewelry. If worn covering real jewelry, they might make a jewel thief pass you by without a second thought, assuming that you couldn’t possibly be wearing anything of value. Finally, you may be able to convince a candy-loving bride-to-be to accept one in lieu of a genuine engagement ring, resulting in quite a cost savings.

  27. I remember Ring Pops from way back when. I saw Ring Pop commercials and longed for the day when I could wear ten Ring Pops, one one each of my fingers, all lick them all, like the kids in the commercial. Unfortunately, my mom was never quite so keen to let me eat that much candy at once. After a few years, when I was able to buy candy for myself, I finally bought the coveted Ring Pops, all different flavors, and lined them all up, one on each finger. I even took a picture because of how pretty I thought I looked. Then I licked them all, one by one, down the line. It tasted a little funny, since my Ring Pops were so many different flavors. But good nonetheless. I will never forget that day, because it was simply so much fun.

  28. ring pops are great not only cuz they taste so yummy but..if u dont want to have it in your mouth for a few mins..henu can were it and not have to worry about getting u fingertips sticky or looking for a place to set it down without somehtign getting stuck to it!

  29. mmm I loved the weekend trips to the candy store since we were not allowed sweets during the week we got to splurge on sunday and I had many a time had a handful of ringed fingers with an assortment of flavors of the ooohhh so deeeelish long lasting ring pop. Now that I have kids of my own the only lolly pop allowed in this house is the ring pop all the others do not compare to the high quality flavor and texture of the ring pop.

congrats to 30 yrs ring pop
now I have to go to the store cause I have a craving for the sweet sticky goodness of the delishious ring pop.

  30. I remember that ring pops were our “diamonds” , we thought that we were really something pretending with these. NOw I get a kick out of watching my 5 yr old grandaughter wear them and she will say “mimmi (that is me) look at my diamond it is (blue, red or whatever color she has at the time)” Oh what memories ring pops bring back!

  31. When I went to go visit my grandma when I was a little girl every morning we went out for coffee with her friends and she would give me 10 cents to get a novelty candy.. I always saved it till I could afford to buy a ring pop. They were the crown Jewel of all Candy and well worth the wait. Now my kids think they are top notch but I have to admit that even as a mother I can’t resist to pop a ring pop into my mouth whenever I get the chance.

Thanks for the many years of memories and here is to many more…….

  32. My grandchildren think they “discovered” the ring pop. Kids of this generation like them just as much as the generations before them. Happy 30th and may my grandchildren’s children be able to “discover” the ring pops for the next generation.

  33. Wilma Flintstone the wife of Fred Flintstone wears a stone-age Ring Pop. Being a redhead naturally, I always wanted to grow up and have my own matching ring pop. While my ex and I were dating, he asked what my style of ring was and I said I wanted one like wilma flintstone’s, on our next date, I was presented with my very own delicious ring pop ! Wilma has missed out on the delicious treat all these years!

  34. My fondest memory of Ring Pops takes me back to a night in the early 80s. I was with my grandfather, and he took me into a store and instructed me to choose any candy I wanted, and to get enough for my siblings and cousins. I chose Ring Pops for all of us!

My grandfather died a few years later. I’ve had a lot of Ring Pops in my time, and I will never forget the night that I was the “candy queen” and the bill for all of our candy jewels was willingly picked up by Granpa.

  35. i loved ring pops as a kid. I felt like it was a piece of jewelery. It was like a Gucci lollipop.

  36. I have loved ring-pops, since I was a boy growing up in Washington State and still enjoy them to this day!
