As an avid theme-related candy collector, it made perfect sense to me that a Hulk fan would maintain a list of all the Hulk food and candy he could find. The Hulk is such good fodder for candy products, given that he is bright green, and nowadays green is the new black as far as candy colors go. Add to this the fact that Hulk has a touch of the weird-and-alien about him, so the marketing opportunity for various forms of gooey and squishy (like Gamma Serum) candy are seemingly endless.
Some of the things on this list made me feel slightly ill (Hulk Pudding) but others looked worth trying, especially all the various Hulk Gummies. Unfortunately some of those the author tried lost big when it came to taste – the product looked original and fun, but disappointed when it came down to flavor. I suspect this is a downfall of many promotional candy products, as they are meant as just that, to be sold on the basis of the character, not on the basis of taste. Lucky for the candy companies, us theme collectors will usually buy it anyway!
Perusing this list was not entirely without it’s element of amusement though – upon looking at the Hulk Pocket Pop, I found myself thinking, “Is that a Hulk in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?†Any Hulk fan would enjoy looking through this list and seeing just how many of them they’ve tried…and how many different ways marketing companies can sell it! (Just between you and me, the picture at the top of this post looks like a Hulk who has had one pudding too many…)
Just the thought of green hulk gum balls gives me a stomach ache.
