Ahh, the age old conundrum: sweet vs. savory. I face it every time I go out for breakfast, but I never considered it an issue with candy. After all, candy is and should be sweet, right? Well, leave it to Pennsylvania-based Sugar Plum to mess with my reality. I recently received samples of two products: Chocolate Popcorn and Hand-Dipped Chips in Belgian Chocolate.

When I opened the box of chips, I have to confess that I wasn’t particularly excited. Chocolate-dipped potato chips sounded a little fussy and gifty, and I figured neither the chocolate nor the chips would be of very high quality. Well, I was wrong! I took a bite, and I have to say that these chips rocked my world. I cannot even express how delightfully delicious the combination of the salty ruffled chip with the dark chocolate is. The chocolate is smooth and flavorful and perfectly complements the crunchy chip. I had to push the box away from me so that I wouldn’t polish off the entire contents in one sitting. Yes, my friends, these are indeed awesomely addictive.

The Chocolate Popcorn is also pretty darn tasty. Now, it’s well-nigh impossible to mimic the texture and flavor of fresh popcorn, so it’s no surprise that some of the popcorn pieces in Sugar Plum’s Chocolate Popcorn are a tad on the soft and stale side. That did not, however, stop me from enjoying the concoction. There is a healthy drizzling of both dark and milk chocolate on the popcorn, resulting in great little clusters. The only thing lacking was salt (and maybe butter) on the popcorn – I think the addition of some salt would have kicked it up another notch on the delicious scale.
You can buy these and many more delicious treats at Sugar Plum’s website or at igourmet.com.

That sounds really good but making your own popcorn with the butter and salt then tossing in some broken pieces of chocolate bar sounds even better! Thanks for the idea!
Popcorn and M&M’s. MMmmm good.
Another good one to try is tossing in white chocolate. It really cuts into the saltiness of the popcorn. It looks a bit weird–not the most graceful cocktail food–but it tastes really good!
Just what this country needs.
I make chocolate covered chips with my daughters at home.
It was nice to run across this site to see that there are other chocolate chip lovers out there.
Enjoy!!!
A high school friend introduced me to hot butter popcorn with peanut M&M’s ages ago, a very addicting combo i have to say. It’s nice to see that others have thought of it as well.
The chocolate covered chip idea however, just sounds amazing
Wow I must say, I would have NEVER tried chocolate on chips but hey, I might give it a go! rock on all you chocoholics!
OMG u r all so cool. I cant belive I have found other ppl who like chocolate chips. oh my gosh and I luv the jelly beans! WOO HOO
It sounds good thank you for the ideas.
I almost barfed when I saw chocolate covered potato chips . The saltiness and chocolate sounds awful . The popcorn sounds worse though . Salt , Butter and Chocolate . Yummm . (not) .
Go hanny they look disgusting and they might be disgusting even if i am a chocoholic (shock horror!)
Omg! sounds so yum! I want soe so I’m gonna go make some!
Have been doing the chocolate and potato chips thing since I was a kid. Also decided to do the chocolate and popcorn thing a couple of years ago. Provided you mix your flavours correctly and have a liking for dark chocolate (it works better than milk, as it has a strong enough flavour to stand up to saltiness), you’re on to a winner every time!
do you have catalogs? if so can i request one?
the popcorn with choco aint 2 bad but the crisps dipped in chocolate is just disgusting! actually if i tried it, it would taste much worse, judging by the place i come from. because the choclate here tastes like cow pat.
