Toasted Marshmallow Lollipop

Marshmallow Pop

A marshmallow on a twig, you say? How innovative is this? Haven’t thousands of campers already experienced the simple pleasure of roasting marshmallows over an open fire, you say? Look closer, because the twig is made of plastic and the marshmallow stuck at the end of it is actually a lollipop! Imagine enjoying this treat and having people ask you why you’re sucking on a yucky-looking stick. Then you’d smile mellowly, pop the end out of your mouth, and show off your marshmallow-shaped lollipop to your astonished friends!

Since the “marshmallow” is actually hard candy, I don’t know how well this would actually roast. Actually, it would probably melt before it turned brown and crispy. And there’s no easy way to concoct a s’more out of it. But it’s a marshmallow lollipop, and probably much more convenient (and safer?) than trying to chomp down on a real marshmallow stuck on the end of a dirty old twig. The real question is: does the lollipop taste like a regular marshmallow or a toasted marshmallow? If we get our hands on one, we’ll let you know.

Sugar-coating stress: an exercise in Candy Addiction

Candy Binge

As finals approach for many college students, we all turn to different vices and sources of comfort. I’ve seen hoards of stressed-out classmates gathered in the smoker-friendly areas on campus, while others look wild-eyed and jabber about the benefits of slamming energy drinks. Sleep is hard to find, and talk of late-night pizza delivery is normal. Personally, I take comfort in candy. I prefer chocolate, but as I proved to myself after a particularly difficult anatomy exam, almost anything with sugar will do. This article is dedicated to my fellow Candy Addicts, the frazzled students and office workers who flock to candy aisles and vending machines in search of comfort.

Dad Gone Mad’s Candy Stash

Dad Gone Mad logo

If you have a kid (or kids) and haven’t read Dad Gone Mad yet, you owe it to yourself to read the site on a regular basis. Every time I read something on the site I laugh out loud (LOL). Seriously. I have been a closet reader of the site and haven’t professed my love of the site in their comments, but recently he linked to Candy Addict. The post where he did this talks about his and his wife’s candy stash and how one of his kids almost discovered it. Finally an excuse to mention his site on mine! It’s really funny stuff. Take a read and I dare you not to laugh or at least smile while reading it. Besides being seriously funny, it is extremely well-written.

Please note – his site isn’t exactly family-friendly (language), but it’s definitely family-funny!

Candy Review: Limited Edition Neapolitan Kisses and Double Fudge Kisses

Neopolitan Hershey Kiss
Neapolitan Kisses

I heard about these Kisses recently thanks to a reader and I immediately began a quest for them. The quest didn’t last long since they were being advertised by my local CVS Pharmacy. Seems like these days there’s another new “Limited Edition” candy practically every day – and Hershey’s Kisses seem to be leading the pack. Perhaps their small size, and short ingredient list allow the folks at Hershey to experiment, test, and sell flavors at a faster rate than a more complicated candy would allow.
