Dark Chocolate M&M’s Return

New Dark Chocolate M&Ms

They’re back! I’ve been hearing that these were returning, and now they have. Dark Chocolate M&M’s first made their appearance as part of The Chocolate M-Pire back in 2005. They proved to be so popular that they have now brought them back as a regular product.

M&M’s recently sent out a newsletter to their subscribers announcing their return. Brian has seen them “in the wild” at his local Wal-Mart in NC and a Flickr user has seen them at Wal-Mart too. I’m going to have to keep my eye out for them – I haven’t seen them yet here around NJ.

As much as I claim not to like white chocolate, or dark chocolate, or coffee flavoring … the more I write for Candy Addict, the more that doesn’t hold true. I really enjoyed the Dark Chocolate Peanut M&Ms when I had them way back when.

The new packs aren’t a “Limited Edition” and their site says they were “one of our most anticipated products”, so it looks like they’re here to stay. Good news for us! Look for them in stores in the purple pack!

  1. But what about dark chocolate peanut? Do they have those?

RESPONSE: No mention of them so I’d have to say no. :(

  2. You know what I find a little odd – that they picked purple for their dark chocolate … same as Dark Chocolate Hershey’s Kisses.

RESPONSE: Seems logical to me – if you want dark, get the purple package – whther it’s Kisses or M&Ms! :)

  3. Their site makes no mention of the return of dark chocolate peanut m&m’s which is really disappointing to me – I loved those things to death. The non-peanut ones I didn’t even bother with.

  4. Yay! Although I hope they also bring back the peanut ones. And dark chocolate almond would also be good.

  5. this news has just made my girlfriend’s night!

Nice site by the way..coincidentally, I found it after i posted on mine about almond snickers and wild berry “gummi” life savers…

must have had a sweet tooth tonight..

  6. Add me to the “bummed out” list that they are not doing the dark chocolate peanut M&M’s!!
I just got the dark chocolate plain M&M’s and they’re ok but are no comparison to the peanut ones in my opinion. I kept emailing M&M/Mars to bring back the dark chocolate M&M’s and they did— but no peanut! Needless to say, I emailed them again :o(
Maybe if enough people email, they will listen…

  7. I must confess that I generally do not like the bitterness of dark chocolate. I guess that means I have peasant taste. In fact, I would really go for white chocolate M&M’s. I wonder if they will do that next.

RESPONSE: I have to assume you’re kidding since they have done white chocolate M&Ms already :)

  8. This is all well and good, but I do hope that after the Pirates of the Caribbean promotion is over that the white chocolate M&Ms go into permanent production. They’re REALLY good.

  9. I got these at a Harris Teeter the other day :)
And for those of you that aren’t from the south, its a grocery store.

  10. Although I normally can’t stand anything dark chocolate, Dark Chocolate M&Ms are an exception to the rule. The slight bitterness of the chocolate, combined with the sugary candy shell, make for an experience far more delicious that plain milk chocolate M&Ms :)

  11. I am OBSESSED w/ these damm things. They are AMAZING and whenever I go on a candy binge I choose these first! Thanks M & M. I love you soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for making these! xoxoxoxoxoxo

  12. DARK CHOCOLATE PEANUT M&M’s RETURN!!!! I found them last night at CVS Pharmacy!!!! I am in Orlando, FL for work training and was ecstatic when I found them (by accident). My husband is addicted and we’ve looked for the last two years…calling/writing the M&M family to bring them back!

  13. DARK CHOCOLATE PEANUT HAS BEEN RELEASED, BUT I HAVE NOT FOUMND IT IN THE STORES YET, THE M&M WEB SITE SAYS SOON
