Stride Gum – The Ridiculously Long Lasting Gum

Stride Gum

UPDATE: If you are looking for the answer to whether or not the wrappers are edible, here is the answer.

At this week’s All Candy Expo, Cadbury-Adams, the makers of Trident, Certs, and Dentyne (among other things), announced their newest innovation, Stride – The Ridiculously Long Lasting Gum.

According to a very un-scientific study conducted by The Chicago Sun-Times the flavor of the gum lasts anywhere between 34 minutes to 127 minutes. That might not be ridiculously long, but I’d say that is mighty impressive. The gum, which took 3 years of research and development to perfect, uses proprietary technology to encapsulate sweeteners causing them to be released over time insead of all at once.

Quick review: The gum is tasty and does last a long time, but it’s not a good flavor. After chewing for 15-20 minutes or so, it tastes like it’s just about to lose the last of its flavor and it tastes that way for a long time. So it’s not an enjoyable long-lasting gum. If you remove the promise of “long-lastingness”, it’s as good as any other gum out there.

  1. Yeha, you can eat the wrapper! It dissolves, and I heard that the wrapper is also made of rice paper, which is edible, it doesnt matter. Eat it to get your money’s worth lol

  2. Thats right, The wrappers are actually made of rice paper and dissolve. they have no flavor by them selves, but when you eat it with the wrapper, it keeps the flavor inside until of course, it dissolves and then it’s like a huge rush of flavor. So I guess it really does save the flavor.

  3. So, I was in math class this morning, you know chewing Stride…and someone mentioned that I could chew the gum with the wrapper still intact…I am going to try it after lunch with my last piece, so hopefully everything goes well…!

  12. It is not suppose to be eaten but you can chew it if you want but as long as you dont swallow it its probably ok.

  13. yall SUCK if any thing orbit is best. teah i said a enemy name on your web site but is true

  14. Gum is NOT long lasting, if you think it is, obviously you’re believing everything you hear and it’s taken over your brain.

Gum reminds me of bubbelicious, overpoweringly sweet at first, rubbery and thick in texture, overpriced and flavour runs out fast.
