Right before Father’s Day, I had posted about Beercandy and how it would make a great gift for Dads everywhere. I mentioned in that post that I was planning to order some of their products for my beer loving husband for Father’s Day. After all, what could be better for a beer-loving guy? Well, I spoke true and now I can tell you all about their Beer Taffy. I would have also reviewed the Beer Caramels, but sadly, since it was a Father’s Day gift after all, they were consumed before I could taste the. I had asked him for some details that I could include in the review but all he could tell me was that they were the best caramels he ever had.

Well, it’s that time of year again, Father’s Day is coming and you haven’t gotten Dad a gift yet. I’m sure you’re trying to decide between that Home Depot gift card or a BBQ set. WAIT! Don’t buy anything yet until you’ve read this!!!! I’ve found the ultimate CANDY to give as a Father’s Day gift: Beercandy! Yes, that’s right, candy made with beer. You have your choice of Caramels, Beertaffy, and HopDrops (which are hard candies made with real Hop oil).
Steve Casselman began brewing beer at home back in 1985. This past October, he started the Beercandy website in order to bring his beer candy to life. Steve uses 4 kinds of beer to make his candy: IPA, Stout, Lager and Lambic.
My husband is a huge beer fan and I’m actually on the site right now, ordering some Beercandy for his Father’s Day gift. Review to come!
Candy Review: Sweet Candy taffy
Categories: Candy,Candy Reviews,Candy Videos,Classic and Retro Candy,Gourmet CandyI grew up near the East coast and made my fair share of trips to the beach as a youngster. One of my favorite spots was a local and popular restaurant, the Sanitary Fish Market. What could possibly make a kid actually request to go to a seafood restaurant? Salt water taffy can. Oh, the joy of sticky, sweet goodness. Sure, we were able to watch taffy being made at the State Fair, but it wasn’t nearly as good as the taffy from Sanitary Fish Market. That was the best taffy my 14 year-old self had ever had.
I grew out of taffy as an adult… or so I had thought.

CAMP HILL, PA Classic Caramel, LLC is pleased to announce that is has signed agreements with Bonomo Turkish Taffy®, LLC to manufacture and be the master distributor to the retail trade for Bonomo®.
Bonomo®, one of the great nostalgic candy brands, has not been commercially manufactured or sold since the mid 1980’s. Bonomo® was a true national brand in the 1950’s and 1960’s. The company’s tagline, “Smack it Crack It!â€, was realized by consumers as they smacked the taffy against a hard surface and ate the pieces off the wrapper.
The original formulation, manufacturing process, and even the original flavors have been resurrected. “In taste testing, the comments from those that remember the bar have been very complimentary, ‘just like they remembered it’ is the frequent comment†says Ken Wiesen, President and Co-CEO of Bonomo®.
“Bonomo® is truly a revered old fashioned candy brand with a unique taste and formulation that currently does not exist in the market. Classic Caramel is thrilled that this brand is joining our family of other nostalgic brands, Slo Poke®, BB Bats®, Kits®, & Flipsticksâ„¢. We look forward to bringing this favorite candy back to its loyal fans and to create a whole new generation of Bonomo Turkish Taffy loversâ€, commented Richard Warrell, Director of Sales & Marketing.
Bonomo will be available in its original bar format, as well as bite size individually wrapped pieces. The bite size pieces will be available in an assorted change maker tub as well as straight flavor bulk. Product will be available for shipment July 2010.

Candy Review: Classy Karma Candy
Categories: Candy,Candy Reviews,Gourmet Candy,New Candy,Soft CandyWith the popularity of yoga and its associated clothing, mats and other accessories, I guess it was only a matter of time until the popular fitness/relaxation stretching regime got its own signature candy – Classy Karma Candy Healthy Yoga Treats. Not that it isn’t a bit illogical – what makes less sense than having a post-workout candy treat to gain back all those lost calories?
Ah, but this is a healthy treat – or so the promotional material I received at the All Candy Expo claims. It’s “12 TIMES MORE POTENT than synthetic vitamin C,†contains “ALL NUTURAL (sic) ANTI AGING properties from powerful antioxidants,†and is made with “all-natural berries and spices with no processed sugar.†(The ingredients, however, say otherwise – the first two ingredients are sugar and glucose, which don’t just pop out of the sugarcane without SOME level of processing.)
These are made by the Classy Candy Company, a new company – as far as I could tell, the candies are only available for sale on Classy Candy’s website (which was clearly written by a non-native English speaker – I found its enthusiastic, if slightly fractured, copy kind of charming).
