Few things are as essential to my life as candy. One of the others is college football. So to kickoff the season, a fellow UCLA Bruin alumni and I headed down to a local sports bar to watch the Bruins play (and beat) the Tennessee Volunteers.

Maybe it’s because Tennessee is a lot closer to Texas than California, but my friend and I were the only fans sporting blue and gold among a throng of orange and white. This was made particularly awkward every time our team did well, and I would jump and cheer only to be booed by those around.

I started Candy Addict almost three years ago, but candy isn’t all I am into (snacks are another). I also love t-shirts, as you can tell by the number of times we have written about t-shirts. Because of this, I have been busy lately working on a brand new site called Teenormous. It’s essentially a t-shirt search engine right now, though we have big plans for the site and will be adding tons of new features to make it much more than just a search engine. I got an email today from the producer of the CNBC TV show The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch. They wanted me to appear in their Minutes to Millions segment as a “candy expert.” So, I’m flying to NY on Monday to film it! How awesome is that? And… one of the other panelists is Kevin Nealon from SNL! I’m not sure if I’m more excited about being on TV or meeting and sitting on a panel with Kevin Nealon!

Hmmm… I just checked Kevin’s website (I just called him Kevin, like we’re all buddy-buddy) and he says he’ll be there at 1:00 AM - I hope his site is wrong because I was told taping starts at 2:00 PM. His first book “Yes, You’re Pregnant but What About Me?” just came out. I should get a copy and ask him if he’ll sign it for me, though I don’t want to appear to be a huge fanboy.

I’ll take lots of pics to show everyone and I’ll post the air date as soon as I find out!

UPDATE: Just found out it will air the same night, Monday, May 19th, 10PM EST.
UPDATE2: I setup Twitter on my phone so I will live Twitter the whole process of going on TV Follow my Twitter account.

At Michael Sheridan’s school, candy sales are not allowed (oh the horrors!). When Michael was caught buying a bag of Skittles from another student he was suspended for a day, barred from attending an honors student dinner, and stripped of his title as class vice president.

Seems a bit harsh doesn’t it? It’s a good thing it wasn’t Big league Chew or candy cigarettes!!!

Michael says that he didn’t realize his candy purchase was against the rules, but he did notice that the student selling the Skittles on Feb. 26 was being secretive.

Let’s take a few moments to appreciate where we would be right now without the wonderful products from Wrigley: Doublemint, Big Red, Juicy Fruit, Winterfresh, Extra, Freedent, Orbit, Eclipse, Hubba Bubba, Big League Chew, Altoids, Life Savers, and Creme Savers - to name a few.
