S’more 101 T-shirt

I’m not really a big fan of numbers. Or science. Or instruction manuals, for that matter. So I don’t really know if all the specs work out. But I do enjoy t-shirts. And I love s’mores. And since my affinity for the latter outweighs my disdain for the former at a ratio of exactly 7652:1 (did I do that right? Like I said, I’m really more for the candy than the math) I feel that puts me in the clear to adore this S’mores how-to shirt from Threadless.

My only concern? I have always – always – constructed my s’mores with the marshmallow on top of the chocolate square. Have they changed the rules since I took S’more 101? ‘Cause I gotta tell ya, I don’t know that I’m willing to change. It’s pretty perfect that way. Despite this flaw, however, I am looking forward to the “more detailed instructions” promised to follow in S’more 201. Do you think that includes the introduction of additional ingredients? Because a thin layer of peanut butter spread beneath Graham Cracker Sheet #1 makes for an awesome advanced s’more.

Annabelle’s Rocky Road Double Dipped Bits Package

Like a true Candy Addict, when I hear the word “Rocky Road” my mind doesn’t jump to ice cream, but instead lands on the candy bar of the same name. Rocky Road is a classic candy made by Annabelle Candy Company, who are the same makers of my beloved Big Hunk and also Abba Zaba. Rocky Road was Annabelle Candy’s first original candy bar, which debuted around 1950. It’s a big seller in its home state of California, where it remains one of the top 40 best selling candy bars.

What makes the Rocky Road so special? Well, it’s a unique combination of flavors to start. Take fresh marshmallow, then layer on some bits of roasted cashews before covering the whole thing in milk chocolate. A classic no matter how you look at it: original, simple and tasty. Over the years Rocky Road has tried on new flavors. Today you can find a Dark Chocolate and Mint variety. This newest version is called “Double Dipped Bits” and they are basically smaller sized Rocky Road bars in movie theater sized boxes.

Candy Review: Plush Puffs Gourmet Marshmallows in Simply S’mores flavor

There is a special place in my heart (and digestive system) for marshmallows. I have always loved marshmallows and was the one kid out of 100 who actually liked Marshmallow Peeps. I even like to make my own marshmallows on occasion. So, I was thrilled to receive some gourmet, handmade marshmallows from Plush Puffs to review. Even better, Plush Puffs was kind enough to send me their newest flavor: Simply S’mores.

Plush Puffs come beautifully packaged, as you can see, and the individual marshmallows are in perfect bite-sized cubes. The Simply S’mores marshmallows start with Plush Puffs’ basic vanilla bean marshmallow, then are coated in cocoa powder and topped with some little chocolate nibs. Oh, and there are little bits of graham cracker inside the marshmallows! I have to say that while these don’t really taste like actual s’mores, they are a delicious standalone puff.

Easter Candy Review: See’s Candies Scotchmallow Eggs

Every human being, I conjecture, has an area (or two, or a handful) of expertise – fields in which he shines, topics about which she possesses unparalleled knowledge. For me, these areas include ladies’ figure skating from 1994 through 2006, the television show Friends, and the makings of a perfect Easter basket. Free marshmallow Peeps to anyone who can guess which will be explored here.

As a Communications/Chocolate Studies double major (ah, if only…) and author of a highly regarded list detailing the essential Easter basket treats, I’ve seen my share. You can imagine, then, the way my world was rocked upon my recent discovery of a creation so delicious that it makes me regret every single holiday I have celebrated without it. This transcendent treat is See’s Candies Scotchmallow Egg and it is an Easter candy for which I (the Easter Bunny’s mistress herself) would abandon all other Easter candy.

Peep These Pics – Pronto!

Seems like Easter’s never gonna get here, doesn’t it, Candy Addicts? I mean, how long do we have to gaze longingly at the rows and rows of pastel sugary goodness in the aisles of the supermarket before we get to wake up to find a basket of our very own?

For a quick, sugary burst of instant gratification, you simply must check out the expertly curated collection of Peeps dioramas over at Asylum.com. We’ve long enjoyed the candy-related content Asylum offers (the other stuff is pretty good too, but who wants to read anything that’s not about candy, hmmm?), but this recent article earns them the status of Candy Darlings, no question. Collected therein are photos of Peeps in all kinds of crazy situations: Lord of the Peeps, Sgt. Peeper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Peep Jousting, Peep Brulee, and my personal fave, Peep Show.
