Be a PEZ Clown for Halloween!

Finally, a costume for all the PEZ-obsessed Candy Addicts out there – the PEZ clown costume. The costume is available in both adult and children’s sizes for you and your little Candy Addict.

I’m pretty sure this is the first year that an officially-licensed PEZ costume has been available for sale. Being a pretty big PEZ fan, I’ve actually looked for one in the past, and even considered making my own, though I never did.

These will cost you a fair chunk of change ($40 or $50) and time is running out to get one in time for Halloween, but if you’re dedicated, you’ll take the plunge. You may be able to find them cheaper (and faster) at your local Halloween retailer though.

Psycho Funky Chimp – a Hollywood PEZ movie

First-time film director Ruben Fleisher is currently working on a movie which revolves around a 26 year old who buys the rarest PEZ dispenser in the world, the Psycho Funky Chimp (a fictional PEZ dispenser). Once the 26 year old main character (yet uncast) purchases the Psycho Funky Chimp dispenser, it attracts all manner of ne’er-do-wells, thieves, and fanboys.

The script will be written by Michael Bacall (who’s acted in a bunch of things, but hasn’t written much), and produced by Todd Phillips in association with MTV Films. Todd Phillips directed Old School, Road Trip, and School For Scoundrels. MTV Films brought you films like Napolean Dynamite, Hustle and Flow, and the original Jackass movie.

Only time will tell if this movie ever gets finished and released, as it’s still in the very early stages of being just a spec script. I hope it does though, because I’m sure it would bring with it a whole slew of new PEZ collectibles, and I’d imagine some sort of actual Psycho Funky Chimp dispenser. I can only hold my breath and wait in PWZ-fanboy-anticipation.

Grape Scratch and Sniff PEZ T-Shirt

Grape PEZ Scratch N Sniff T-Shirt

I was recently browsing 80stees.com when I came across the Grape Scratch and Sniff PEZ T-Shirt. A scratch and sniff shirt? How cool is that! It’s candy, it’s grape-y, it’s retro, it’s everything you could ever want! I was seriously tempted to buy until I read the description and realized that after about five washings the scratch and sniff goodness wears out. Bummer. I mean, I can rewear with the best of them, but after so many run-ins with baby puke and toddler mucus it’s going to have to go in the wash.

Plus, it occurred to me that the exact location of the logo might present problems – “Hey, my shirt is scratch and sniff! Sniff me right there!” Not good. I’m just thankful the thought came to me before I bought it and tested it out. Still, a guy secure in his masculinity might enjoy it… and probably won’t have to worry about that whole washing conundrum either!

80stees.com actually has quite a few cool candy-themed tees (mostly for the ladies) like Tootsie Roll, Fun Dip, Bubblicious, more PEZ shirts, Chupa Chups, Dubble Bubble, and Blow Pop.

World’s Most Expensive PEZ Dispenser

Expensive PEZ

The world’s most expensive Pez dispenser is currently on eBay’s auction block if you are to believe the auction details. The dispenser, known as The 1982 World’s Fair Astronaut B, is believed to be 1 of only 2 known to have ever been created. The one currently on eBay has a white helmet, with a green stem, and the only other known example is a blue stem with a blue helmet (seen above).

Likely made as prototypes to present to the World’s Fair board, the dispenser was never put into production, and was acquired through former PEZ employees, accoring to the auction. This webpage provides more information on the dispenser, but since it’s hosted on GeoShitties GeoCities, it may be down when you try to visit.

Bidding for the dispenser is currently over $32,000, with nearly 5 days still remaining on the auction. While I am a Candy Addict with a penchant for PEZ, I’m not Bill Gates, so sadly will have to pass on this one.

Candy Review: PEZ Sourz

My Yoda dispenser was on heavy duty this past weekend, popping out the four flavors of PEZ Sourz. I like sour candy, and I had high hopes for the Sourz. The Sourz come in four flavors: Sour Pineapple, Sour Blue Raspberry, Sour Green Apple, Sour Watermelon.

The first brick I tried was Sour Pineapple. It’s more sweet than sour, but definitely has noticeable tanginess compared to regular PEZ. I’m impressed that the candy actually tastes a lot like pineapple.
