Paul Pape Chocomiis

Last year we brought you news of Paul Pape’s adorable Valentine Chocolate Miis. This year we got the pleasure of reviewing some of the early just-off-the-press samples!

There have been some design changes since last year – apparently, some of the Miis didn’t arrive in great shape, so now they’re on a slab of chocolate to help them stay in one piece. The heart, which last year was a red hot, is now a smaller sugar heart (yay – I hate red hots!). Of course, to a Candy Addict, the most important thing is that they’re still 2 solid ounces of gourmet milk, dark, or white chocolate.

The box is designed to look like the popular Wii game console; in fact, it looks so eerily similar, I’m thinking of sticking it under my TV so all my friends think I have one. Oh, wait, people would actually have to come to my apartment for that to work. OK, I’ll stick it under there so I think I have one.

My preview box included a milk chocolate male-mii and a dark chocolate female-mii. They feel quite hefty and have a great chocolaty smell. The figures are very cute, with lots of detail – I love the little red heart. It says “Happy Valentine’s Day” without screaming “Happy happy love love smoochy kiss kiss.” (Not that I have anything against all the Valentine’s Day nonsense, of course….)

The chocolate itself is very good. It’s smooth and flavorful and uncomplicated. In fact, it’s almost impossible to not eat the entire Mii in one sitting. And if you’re like me, you’ll go for the head first… I have to say, it’s a very satisfying bite!

You can get your box in any combination of milk, dark, or white chocolate and male or female figures. They’re perfect for your Nintendo-obsessed sweetie, or just to show a friend you care. A great bonus is that $1 from every box sold will be donated to charity, so not only will the recipient feel loved, you’ll feel great too for contributing to a good cause.

Hey, I was just on their site and noticed that the price dropped to just $10! Apparently they need to sell a bunch of overstock. Now they seem a little more within my grasp.
