Bummer that your first experience of Lindor Truffles wasn't fabulous. I just became an independent consultant for Lindt Chocolate RSVP and am now aware of all the variety of flavors available. Perhaps you might like some of the other flavors better? As others mentioned, temperature and patience for melting time are key factors in the Lindor tasting experience. I have to say as a die-hard dark chocoholic, Lindor's white chocolate truffles introduced me to the milky qualities of white chocolate. FYI - white chocolate is cocoa butter - hence the "butter flavor" ;)

All lindor truffles have to melt in your mouth. If you bite into them they do not have the same creamy exerence. Try it with the Stracciatella and I can bet you have a different opinion.

try the mint flavored ones. i'm not a big mint flavored candy fan, but i like the mint truffles. you get a good mint flavor without it being overwhelming. the mint being overwhelming is usually what turns me off of a mint candy. my kids like some of the other flavors and i will usually buy them one of the individual ones when we go to borders for a book. i don't think i've seen peanutbutter ones though. i'll have to look for those.

I had a party the other night and served these chocolates (which are apparently on sale at Walmart, go figure) and they were a hit! I had two bags and now I have three truffles left...which is a bit sad, but luckily I had another bag stowed away. These are the close to heaven.

@ Tara - I wondered if temperature could be a factor with the Stracciatella, but my experience was still "so-so" no matter how I tried them. The first one I ate was very cold because I was outside and it was 15 degrees. The last one I ate when I wrote the article, I had warmed up before eating. The rest were at room temperature. The flavor didn't improve with the temperature change, unfortunately.

@ Jeni - It's interesting that you liked these but aren't a white chocolate fan. I wonder if you enjoyed them because the white chocolate was so incredibly mild.

@ Kia - I'm looking forward to trying some of the other flavors of Lindor Truffles. Their white chocolate that you've had, is it mildly flavored? Since you say that their's is the only white chocolate you like, I wonder if it's because of the mild flavor. It'd be interesting to know why they make white chocolate that doesn't really taste white chocolatey.

@ Sylvie - Butter, what a good description! The only real flavor I got was from the outer shell. The creamy center was mostly just a creamy, sort of tasteless piece. I never thought of it like butter, but you're right.

Fail! Lindt has to be one of the best chocolates on the mainstream market right now! Their truffles are -so- good, almost every flavor. Granted, I haven't had Stracciatella, but still! They're one of only two companies that can make me enjoy white chocolate.

Well, I didn't have high hopes for these because I'm not a huge fan of white chocolate. I ended up being pleased. I still prefer the plain dark chocolate truffles, though.
