Candy Review: Bali’s Best Green Tea Latte Candy

Bali’s Best Green Tea Latte Candy is a hard candy with infused green tea that “originates … exclusively in the islands of Java.” The package continues: “Mindfully hand-plucked, our tea derives its fresh & lively flavor and light floral scent from the sultry Javanese climate and rich soils.” I don’t know what it means to “mindfully” pluck tea leaves (I’d bet that a long day of harvesting tea would quickly become a mindless task), but I’m excited to try these individually-wrapped candies made in Indonesia. They’re also all-natural – with ingredients you don’t need a chemistry degree to understand.

But what do they taste like? Do I really want tea in my candy?

I should say that I’m more or less neutral about tea as a flavor, but hey, this stuff is good. Really, really good. I had a hard time imagining what this would taste like, but now I can say that it’s like combining a high-quality hard candy with an excellent sweetened ice-tea. Think Werther’s meets Sweet Leaf.

What I like most about Bali’s Best Green Tea Latte Candy is how fresh the tea tastes, and the light touch of milk that gives the candy a genuine sense of being a latte. I don’t go out of my way to drink tea, but I will certainly go out of my way to buy more of this delectable candy.

Bali’s tea candy doesn’t overpower you with its specialty flavor, either. Still, the fresh green tea flavor really comes through. I guess I’m saying that Green Tea Latte Candy has a perfect balance of flavors that makes a wonderful impression on the palette.

So my advice? Try this candy! Even if you’re not a huge tea fan, I think you’ll like it. And if you’re already someone who enjoys a tasty iced tea, I think you’re going to love this candy. I’ve just mindfully plucked another one out of the bag. Mmmmm, delicious.

  1. The answer is yes – tea in your candy is (almost) always a good thing! I’ll definitely have to try these! Interesting to see a green tea candy that doesn’t come from Japan!

  2. I saw these at World Market last weekend and I almost picked them up. Now I wish I had and I will next time I go back.
    Thanks!

Now I know they have more tea flavors I am thrilled I can’t wait to go on the site to order some. I got the original tea candy as part of a gift basket and I am addicted!
