I am not going to lie to you: I am not a big gummi person. Unless gummi bears or their squirmy gummi worm cousins are coated in a thick layer of sour sugar, I’m usually not interested. So when I heard about Loud Truck Energy Gummies at the All Candy Expo, I was hesitant to try one, until someone on the floor said the magic words: “It’s like eating a bag of Red Bull.”
To some people, that statement would be terrifying. To me, it was a starter pistol that sent me racing over to the Loud Truck Energy booth to sample these mystical bears of energy and goodness. I love Red Bull, and most energy-fueled treats, so I was hoping that Loud Truck gummies would provide a new (and possibly cheaper) alternative to my beloved Red Bull fix. I instantly fell in love with them at the All Candy Expo, and couldn’t wait to review them once I returned home.
This morning at 8:00 am, I ripped open a new pack of Loud Truck Energy Gummies to start the day. Taste-wise, the gummies are quite good. The bears are firm but soft, with a nice chewy texture that doesn’t stick to the teeth. They have a subtle citrus flavor that gets stronger as the bear is chewed – a nice bite toward the end of the chewing process brings to mind a sip of Red Bull – a fizzy citrus taste that lingers after the bear is gone.
It is now 8:33 am, and I’m feeling a bit more energized than I was thirty minutes ago. I can’t say I have the same hyper feeling I get after a can of Red Bull, but that is probably a good thing. The energy boost here (at least in my experience) is more natural and less severe, which is nice. I feel alert and awake and ready to go.
Loud Truck gummies come in a 1 oz. bag and are not marketed as candy, but rather as a “dietary supplement.” The gummies get their energy-boosting power from guarana extract, Vitamins B & C, and taurine. The words “Not recommended for children” are also printed in bold letters on the pack. These are serious “no-crash energy” gummy bears. It’s probably best if you don’t pack them in a second grader’s lunch box.
One thing that concerns me about the Loud Truck gummies is the serving size. If you look on the back of the bag, you’ll see that two gummies make up the recommended serving. There are about nine gummies in the bag, total. I don’t know about you, but if I rip open a bag with nine gummies in it, I have a hard time just eating two. If you are sensitive to guarana, it might be worth taking a look before you eat the entire bag.
With 220 mg of Vitamin C in each 1 oz. bag, Loud Truck Energy Gummies are a fun and tasty supplement that deliver on both an energy-boosting and candy snacking scale. At this point, Citrus Blast is the only flavor available, but Loud Truck currently has Cherry Max Rush listed as “coming soon” on their site, so keep an eye out for that flavor at some point in the near future.
Now, if they’d only come out with a sour version….
These look yummy and they’re good for you too!
