I’m an easy target for the impulse buys at the grocery store checkout counters. I think it’s a good time to scan the candies and see if there’s anything new, and then of course if something catches my eye, I have to try it. Take, for example, these Ice Breakers in Iced Tea Lemon flavor. I have long been a fan of Ice Breakers candies, and I usually have a container of the Ice Breakers sours in my car. I am also a fan of black tea, so these Ice Breakers sure seemed like a winning combination!

When I cracked open the container, the aroma of lemony iced tea really hit me. It reminded me of Lipton Iced Tea in a can, which I loved as a kid. So a big thumbs up on the scent of these little guys! I wish I could say the same for the taste. I had high hopes for these Ice Breakers, but they just don’t taste very good or very much like iced tea.
The first hit on the tongue is certainly reminiscent of iced tea, but as the mint dissolves, there is a chemical flavor (must be the artificial sweetener) that overpowers the tea flavor. Also, I know Ice Breakers are labeled as mints, but I wasn’t really expecting a minty flavor. The Ice Breakers sours, for instance, don’t taste minty, but the Iced Tea Lemon flavor? I think it’s kind of trying to be a mint, and I don’t really want mint mixing with my lemony iced tea.
By the end of the candy there is no hint of iced tea or lemon at all. Still, I have a feeling this container is going to sit on my desk, and I will be opening the lid and taking a big whiff from time to time, and every once in a while, a mint will make it into my mouth.

These by far are the best. I have to go out to pick up more because my boyfriend just ate them all. I think this was an impulse buy for me as well. I just love checkout candy. The package is very eye catching and neat with the lemon yellow top and brown tea bottom. Very appealing to the eye.
“a chemical flavor (must be the artificial sweetener)” I have to agree, it was my first comment after it was gone, but I thought meh, it’s overall tasty.

May 19th, 2008 at 12:23 amThese don’t taste that great to me, but I always find myself opening the yellow lid from time to time to grab out 2 Ice Breakers. Yes, I eat 2 Ice Breakers at one go.
May 20th, 2008 at 8:47 amon the plus side, sounds like they’ll make great potpourri
May 20th, 2008 at 7:28 pmI don’t know if you or anyone else has tried the raspberry tea or peach tea kind. They are ten times better! Think of how much you like snapple ice teas and which flavor you like the best. That will probably be the better choice for you. I kind of don’t favor the lemon flavor ones that is why I like the peach and raspberry better.
I can’t help but have them every now and then…
May 27th, 2008 at 10:30 amI was a instant tea powder freak when I was a kid- and they do smell very much like that….there is a bit of an undertaste I am not fond of- but they are definitely addictive.
May 28th, 2008 at 12:37 amEvery one i know is hooked on these.I LOVE EM!
June 1st, 2008 at 11:23 pmHey where do you guys buys these”"” cuz i went to royal farms, rieaid, and 2 grocery stores and no one had ‘em
June 5th, 2008 at 9:34 pmI’ve only found these at Target, and i’ve looked lots of other places.
I don’t agree with the “chemical flavor”. I think the lemon taste awesome, and i love the super sweet taste. I’m very sensitive to artificial sweetner, if i can taste it i’ll stop eating, but these don’t taste artificial to me at all. I would really like to try the peach flavor, but they were all sold out. I think i’m going to have to make regular stops at Target to get these.
June 23rd, 2008 at 11:21 amMy teenage daughter and I bought them at the checkout and loved them! We have been back to that store and several others looking for them and haven’t had any luck yet. I was looking online for them when I saw your review. They are my favorite Icebreaker! But I haven’t tried the peach flavor.
June 23rd, 2008 at 1:58 pmDude this is by the best mints I’ve ever tasted, I just bought 3 packs and am on my second pack in one day there awesome!
June 23rd, 2008 at 5:43 pmthe lemon ones taste really good right when you put them in your mouth but slowly taste less and less like iced tea. i still think there great. havent tried the peach or raspberry. seems like targets the only place with em for now.
