As part of my job I have to travel to Florida several times a year. For someone who hates sun, sand, and heat, it isn’t exactly a dream come true. One of the few things that make the trips bearable are my mandatory excursions to Fresh Market and their gourmet candy section. On my last trip, I picked up a bag of Albanese Gummi Bunnies, intending to review them when I got back home to New York. They didn’t make it home; in fact, they didn’t even make it to the airport. They were that good.
So, to make up for it, I bought some Albanese Beeps on Amazon. They have served to reinforce my belief that Albanese makes some of the best gummies I’ve ever had.
The mixed bag came with orange, blue, yellow, green, and pink. While I would love to tell you what the individual flavors are, I honestly have no earthly idea. All I know is that they’re really really tasty. Each color is definitely a different flavor, but without a list it’s nearly impossible for me to figure out what flavors they are.
The bears are a little larger than regular gummi bears, but not by much. Each one has a beautiful texture, with a very fine sugar coating and is firm, but not overly so. The flavors are crisp and succulent (no, really, that’s the word that comes to mind!) with green being my favorite. Yellow is my least favorite, but I think that’s because I got an inordinate number of yellow in my bag.
I will tell you right now that when I go to this year’s All Candy Expo I will be heading straight for the Albanese booth! They make some delicious candy, and if you’re in the market for something that goes above and beyond the typical gummi, go find some of these!

Where is this Fresh Market that you mentioned? I live in Florida and I hope it’s somewhere nearby — I’d love to try some Albanese gummies…
May 6th, 2008 at 1:36 pmThis one was in Naples, but there are Fresh Markets all over the place, with a bunch in Florida. You can check out their website to find one near you, though I can’t promise they’ll have Albanese stuff – their selection changes all the time.
May 6th, 2008 at 1:57 pmlooking at the picture, i can totally imagine what they taste like. not tangy but just…fruity? when my nana was alive, i would give her these jellies she loved on her birthday – they were really soft, but took a good bite to get through the middle of them, and there was the slightest crisp texture to the exterior. the texture was kind of like taffy mixed with jellies… am i close?
May 6th, 2008 at 5:06 pmDang, these sound great (I love gummis) and next time I’m visiting my mom, who lives just outside of Naples, we’re heading to that store and I’ll try some! Funky colors, those pastels…reminds me of those after dinner mints we’d spoon out of a dish at older restaurants when I was younger.
May 7th, 2008 at 1:31 amPer the official site, the flavors are Granny Smith Apple, Lickin’ Lemon, Wild Cherry (red?), Poppin’ Pineapple (blue??), Ornery Orange, and Fresh Strawberry (Pink?).
They also make Passion Fruit, Red Raspberry, and Rockin’ Blue Raspberry.
And… Are there car shaped ones called “Beeps” (you said, “I bought some Albanese Beeps on Amazon.”)?
May 8th, 2008 at 11:05 amI’m reviewing the Beeps here – they’re little bears.
May 8th, 2008 at 2:11 pmas a side note, Fresh Market recently bought out Whole Foods, so if you live in florida(like me) and have a Whole Foods nearby, they might have some of these. they are converting all the Whole Foods into Fresh Markets, but are doing it gradually. so what one has in stock versus another will vary alot.
May 12th, 2008 at 1:45 pmfresh market bought whole foods????
i can’t even imagine what that is going to look like….
huh, and I can’t find any information on it online.
also, these sound excellent. and i think it’s funny that they’re called beeps. for a second I thought these were from Albania and it was some kind of language thing….
May 28th, 2008 at 1:59 pmDoes anyone know about Albanese Fresh Strawberry Gummi Bears or Albanese Ornery Orange Gummi Bears? Do they have a pretty good taste?
June 10th, 2008 at 4:14 amWe were on a road trip and stopped at the Albanese Gummi factory just south of Chicago. I highly recommend it. The prices online at their website are the same. The pineapple are clear yellow. They now have twelve flavors as well as sour bears and worms. And chocolate. Yum.
