Top Ten Candies We Want in our Easter Baskets

Categories: Candy,Chocolate Candy,Holiday Candy,Limited Edition Candy

The 2008 Top Ten list of Candy Addict’s most-wanted Easter candies ought to have you crossing your fingers that at least a few of these treats end up in your basket. Although some may not agree with all of our selections, there’s definitely something for everyone on this list. Wait – make that something delicious for everyone! Happy Easter!

10. Reese’s Pieces Pastel Eggs

Reese's Pieces Pastel Eggs
Crunchy, peanut buttery, addictive. Reese’s Pieces Pastel Eggs seem to taste even better this year than they did last year. Festively colored and egg-shaped, these candies are easy to eat by the handful. Try not to get carried away – there are nine other candies that will hopefully end up in your basket!

9. Kit Kat Bunny Ears

Kit Kat Bunny Ears
Kit Kat bars are a classic candy, and the Bunny Ears version isn’t much different from the original bar, save for exceptionally cute Easter bunnies etched into the chocolate. Crispy, light wafers and milk chocolate make the bar a winner, and the festive wrapper and adorable bunny design on the chocolate make the Bunny Ears a great addition to any basket.

8. Mounds Egg

Mounds Egg
Dark chocolate and heavily sweetened coconut combine for a delicious treat in the Mounds Egg. The consistency is firm and chewy, and the taste is sure to satisfy any sugar craving. These eggs leave us hoping for mounds of Mounds!

7. Peeps

Peeps Orange Creme Eggs
Whether you love or hate the taste of Peeps is almost beside the point at Easter. Peeps are a fixture in any good Easter basket, and a staple on holiday candy shelves. With so many shapes, colors, and even flavor choices, these little marshmallow goodies are a must-have candy.

6. PEZ

Easter PEZ
Ah, PEZ. Almost everyone can say they have at least one fond memory of receiving a PEZ dispenser as a gift. Easter PEZ dispensers are both timeless and adorable. The words collectible, classic, refillable, and fun are greatly appreciated by Candy Addicts.

5. Jellybelly Jellybeans

Jelly Belly Jellybeans
Despite some ups and downs with their occasionally outlandish flavors (think Bertie Botts “booger” and “earwax”), Jelly Belly jellybeans are possibly the best quality on the market. The flavors are diverse, the beans are small and firm, and they usually taste very similar to what they mimic. Excellent beans.

4. Chocolate Bunnies

Chocolate Bunny
What basket is complete without a chocolate bunny? Any decent chocolate brand will do, as long as it’s molded into an adorable rabbit shape. We prefer them big and solid, but the cheapo hollow ones will work just fine. We still haven’t decided which part to eat first though.

3. Cadbury Creme Egg

Cadbury Egg
We have a tough call as to whether we want the Cadbury Mini Eggs or the regular eggs (or even the orange flavored ones) in our baskets, so why not all three? As long as they have that yummy chocolate coating and freakishly delicious yolk-and-whitish filling, we want them. Lots of them.

2. Wonka Nerds Bumpy Jellybeans

Wonka Nerds Bumpy Jellybeans
Not only did Wonka Nerds Bumpy Jellybeans receive our CandyAddict.com’s Awesomely Addictive Candy Award, but they were also proclaimed as Candy Addicts’ newest craze to sweep the writers. These “beans” are far from ordinary. Crunchy, chewy, and almost perfect, these beans come in strawberry, orange, watermelon, grape, and lemon, and are a delightful alternative to the usual host of jellybeans available at Easter. If you haven’t tried these, trust us, they’re addictive.

1. Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg

Reese's Egg
The Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg is the crown jewel of Easter Candy. With its rich peanut butter, decadent milk chocolate, and fresh taste, the Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs epitomize CandyAddict.com’s Awesomely Addictive Candy.

We at Candy Addict wish you a Happy Easter, and hope that we all get a basket full of our Top Ten Easter Candies!

I had a double Reeses egg on Friday, and the cardboard holder was sooooooooo greasy, I could see through it. I almost ate it too! Looking forward to Monday, half price easter candy!

I didn’t get a basket at all this year – first time in 29 years! Fortunately, I am all ready to hit up the candy sales, with a lot of things I wouldn’t have thought to hunt down without Candy Addict! I didn’t even know Nerds jelly beans existed – whoever thought of putting “bumpy jelly beans” on the front is a marketing genius. It’s intriguing and simple enough to hook anyone who can read.

And I read that line as “These eggs leave us hopping for mounds of Mounds!”

I am less than pleased at your lack of mention of Robin Eggs. Crispy shell, milk chocolate, malt-ball center…delorcious! Even te way the blue egg shells get all over everything…

Thats okay though, more for me!

#10 has been my favorite easter candy for the last few years. My fiance loves the Hershey’s version, which is very similar, only just chocolate.

I didn’t see the Orange Cream Peeps in the stores. I would have tried those in a heartbeat.
