Snicker's Adventure Candy Bar

The new Snickers Adventure Bar is a limited edition tie-in with the new Indian Jones movie: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Obviously, they aren’t available yet, but here at Candy Addict you’re getting a sneak peek! The packaging design is nice, with an image of Indy from the original trilogy posters on it.

The tag line on the side says “New Flavor Kick!” but doesn’t exactly say what. The back of the bar hints at the flavor combination with a description of a “cliffhanger kick of exotic spice and a hint of sweet coconut.” Sounds interesting! Also on the back the wrapper has “Arti-FACTs” on them which are Indiana Jones’ and Snickers’ information. The one I got was fact 8/8 and listed a scene location for Temple of Doom in Shanghai and claiming Snickers as the #1 selling bar in China.

Once unwrapped, the bar looks like a normal Snickers but it smells different right off the bat. The bar has a very strong coconut scent. The taste starts off like a normal Snickers bar: chewy nougat, sweet caramel, salty peanuts. A second or two after you start chewing the coconut flavor starts coming though. It’s not very powerful, but it’s not so subtle that you don’t notice it. The flavor is off though. It’s quite artificial and reminds me of how flavored coconut coffee syrups and bad tanning oils smell.

As for the spices, I couldn’t pin any down as I was eating the bar. There were so many flavors being tossed around in my mouth that it was hard to find them. I did finally notice them in the aftertaste of the bar, where I get a little cinnamon, a little coriander and a little pepper. It’s basically a chai flavoring. It’s something you really have to concentrate on to pick out though.

Overall I think the coconut makes the Snickers Adventure a little too sweet. The extra flavor just changes the rest of the bar and it loses that nice sweet/salty balance of the regular. It’s funny, but I think the name “adventure” fits this bar very well: it’s different enough to feel new and exciting yet once you’ve finished it, you’ll be eager and ready to return to the “normal.”

I love coconut, but that sounds awful. I love Indiana Jones too, but I doubt I’ll be supporting them with a purchase of this candy bar.

Well, I’ll try it once, if I can find it. When will it be available? I just tried a Snickers Charged… very strong bitter caffine flavor, but okay and tollerable.

Oh, this is one I’ll pass on buying—just doesn’t sound good at all

Oh, I’ll definitely give it a shot when I finally see one; I think any candy is worth trying for under a buck! If I don’t like it, I only spent 70 cents or so. If I don’t try it, I’ll never know that I might love it (I do tend to like sweeter candy bars, actually, and love coconut, so I may like this one). OK, now I have to go back to playing with my pull-apart Cinnamon Fire Twizzlers I just came home with!

Sounds like they’re trying to do too much here. Why go with coconut AND chai? Surely one or t’other would do, and in the end it seems that neither came out well. Ah well, at least you get things like that, I wish they would even TRY to put out a limited edition Snickers here.

I just tried the candy bar. I thought is was just a regular snickers candy bar, with different advertising. I ate it and did not like it at all. I’ll take the regular snickers anytime.

OK, I don’t usually like Snickers that much. But these were great! I didn’t get a coconut vibe either. Instead, I tasted buttery-ness. Kinda like butterscotch. It’s pretty yummy!

i didn’t realize it was different until i bit into a mini and tasted the coconut, it’s very subtle. I asked a co-worker if they were different and she thought they were the same. Then i found this website and it confirmed my coconut suspicions. I like the new taste, but then again almond joy is one of my favorites!

I love this candy. It’s something about the coconut that I can’t get enough of. It didn’t taste too sweet to me. Well. I guess to each there own.

I purchased this bar totally by accident and it was HORRIBLE, it tastes the way bug spray smells.
    I want my money back.

I love chocolate! Just want to mention that for celiacs, we are not certain if this candy bar is gluten free or not. If you can include that in your reviews that would be wonderful…..

I stole my hubby’s bar (it’s his fault; you can’t leave candy around me and not expect me to eat it!) I thought it was just different packaging. But I tasted the coconut and the “secret spice” immediately. It tastes like cardamom to me. I thought it was horrible. Regular Snickers is still my favorite.

what if you are allergic to coconut and it doesnt have it on the wrapper. especially on th ebag of mini’s. The minis do not have it on the wrapper anywhere.

i accidentally picked up a bad of mini “adventure” snickers and popped one in. i thought the bag had gone bad- the new flavor kick tastes like a normal snickers with very very bad peanuts. it is absolutely disgusting

Picked up a bag of Adventure Bar Indiana Jones…UUUUKKKKKK

They were selling a few at the 99 cent store and I decided to catch a few (since I hadn’t tried it). It definitely wasn’t good as the label made it sound. I personally taste nothing as ‘too sweet’ (then again I’ll eat spoons of pure sugar/honey for the super sweet taste) but I heard relatives I shared some of the bars with complain about it. The flavors tasted kind of disjointed but with a different kind of nut (maybe none) and less coconut it could have been something more tasty.

I can’t wait til the supplier at work stops filling the vending machine with this bar. I want my original Snickers back! This one’s just not right.

    Heather says:

I thought these were pretty good. I actually prefer them to regular Snickers. I agree with Val (comment #7) that these had sort of a buttery flavor. There was a hint of coconut to them, but only in the form of a very faint aftertaste. The blend of spices was unique, but not overpowering. Snickers is not my go-to bar if I’m looking for a sweet treat, but I might pick up another one of these Snickers Adventure bars if I was in the right mood.
