Mini Review: A Trio of Cadbury Treats

I don’t know what this says about me, but one of the best parts of my tour of the Cadbury Factory was perusing the aisles of the gift shop! In addition to a whole bunch of NQR (not quite right) production line rejects, they’ve got a whole stash of items which can’t yet be readily found in the candy aisle. I picked up three new chocolate bars which looked like they had some potential. Here is the round-up of my mini shopping spree:

Cadbury Popping Candy Dairy Milk BarDairy Milk Popping Candy: This is the Australian equivalent of the Pop Rocks Chocolate Bar that we reviewed earlier, which is funny as I’ve never seen Australian Pop Rocks before. Regardless of it’s pedigree, I enjoyed this one. There was a nice candy-to-chocolate ratio, and once the chocolate was gone there was still a nice crackling in the back of your throat.

Cadbury Dream Sprinkles Bar
Dream With Sprinkles: This is Cadbury’s standard white chocolate bar with multicoloured sprinkles distributed throughout. A colorful bar, it was quite fun to eat and again I found the candy-to-chocolate ratio quite high. I’m not a huge fan of Cadbury’s white chocolate range to begin with, but the added novelty of the candy made this one worth having. The texture was strange at first – crunchy more than smooth – but enjoyable nonetheless.

Cadbury Diary Milk Clinkers Bar
Dairy Milk Clinkers Bar: Clinkers are another Cadbury invention – a colored, hard candy similar in feeling to a sponge or honeycomb, covered in milk chocolate. This bar has the Clinkers centers mixed throughout. Of the three, this was my favorite. Texturally it was perhaps the easiest to eat, and flavor-wise it was nice to get those little nuggets melting on your tongue once the chocolate had melted away. Of all of them this is the one I would buy again to eat rather than just for novelty value.

They all sound great… but “Clinkers”??? Sounds like JAIL. Is there a reason behind the name?
