Gimme a break, gimme a break…
Memorable, catchy, and eternally connected to various wonderful sweets, candy jingles are the happy little tunes that remind us of how good candy can be. Some of them are sweet, some are weird, and some are, well, ridiculous, but they’re all a lot of fun to listen to. A good candy jingle will stick in your head for days, and a great candy jingle will stay with you for decades, no matter how hard you try to shake it.
I realize that not everyone will agree with this list: the soundtrack to many childhoods includes a few candy jingles for everyone, and these are simply the ones that stood out in mine. If you have a jingle that you loved that isn’t on this list, let us know! We’d love to hear from you.
That being said, we at Candy Addict bring you…

Too many songs stuck in my head! Can’t concentrate! May need to take the rest of the day off work.
August 17th, 2007 at 10:58 amI remember all those commercials, even the Hershey one!! That’s awesome that you found all of those, that You Tube is really something! Thanks for sharing!
August 17th, 2007 at 1:46 pm“There’s no wrnog way *chomp* to eat a Reeses!”
:)
I felt the SAME way about those big red commercials…ugh.
August 17th, 2007 at 5:27 pmThat darn Nestle’s jingle has stuck in my head since I was a kid, “N-E-S-T-L-E-S, Nestle’s makes the very best…choc-lit!”
And who can forget Choo Choo Charley and the Good’n'Plenty rap, synched to the train’s chugging along?
I’m sure some other one will come to me in the middle of the night, then I’ll never be able to get back to sleep!
August 18th, 2007 at 1:05 amYou were close, but the greatest candy commercial ever is the one with Mr. Owl. How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop? *CRUNCH* The world may never know…

RESPONSE:That commercial had no jingle though. This was not a list of the top ten commercials, it was a list of the top 10 jingles, so that commercial does not fit in.

August 18th, 2007 at 10:11 pmDoes anyone else find that all of the Mentos commercials were very… white? In my social circle (such as it was) at the time of those commercials, we referred to Mentos as “The Official Snack Food of the Aryan Race.” Try watching one or two of them with that in mind, and see what you think.
August 18th, 2007 at 11:06 pmHow about, this one, sung by a choir of teasing imps….lip-smackin’, paddy-whakin’, filling-crackin’, Cracker Jacks??

August 19th, 2007 at 10:52 pmi don’t have any sound for the last one (number 1). i am sad… does anyone remember the charms blowpops commercial? and even though it’s not candy, the “i’d like to teach the world to sing” coca-cola commercial…. *sigh*
the hershey commercial brings me back. i was what, 4 or 5?
August 20th, 2007 at 2:51 amYou missed the best gum commercial ever! The Teaberry Gum Shuffle.
September 16th, 2007 at 4:45 pmHershey’s is closing their plant in Hershey Pa and moving it to Mexico. Laying off 1,300 American workers. This will make their share holders more money.I won’t ever buy it again. I have already signed a petiton saying I will not buy it. I never would have believed that Hershey would go unAmerican.
September 17th, 2007 at 6:24 pmHershey’s announced it will be moving some of its operations out of the US (off to Mexico!) cutting 1,500 jobs. If we stop buying hershey products, then we make a point we don’t accept this. Save our jobs! sign the petition!! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/kissesforhershey/

the snickers commercial ^.^
September 20th, 2007 at 11:48 pmAfter reading this post, the one that came back to me — which I still have stuck in my head decades later — is for Freshen-up Gum. It went like this (singing): “Freshen your breath with freshen-up (freshen-uh-uppp)… The gum that goes squirt. (Love that squirt!)”
Which also leads me to think of the related ear-worm of a jingle “brush your breath, brush your breath, brush your breath with Dentyne!”
Argggh. Get out of my head.
October 3rd, 2007 at 1:23 amWhat about the kid going to ask Mr. Owl how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop, does that count as a jingle or just a kickin campaign
October 11th, 2007 at 12:13 amAlso I hated Tootsie rolls as a kid but loved the commercials so much and was brainwashed into eating them as an adult
You forgot Push-Pops! When I was a kid, I would always sing along with that catchy jingle: “Push-Pops burst with real fruit flavor, push it down and save some for later!” I also thought the jingle for Wonderballs (if anyone else remembers those) was annoying, but forever stuck in my head: “Oh I wonder wonder what’s in my Wonderball!”
October 17th, 2007 at 1:13 amThe Teaberry Shuffle from the Teaberry Gum commercials!
November 10th, 2007 at 4:17 amYou are so right about that kitkat “gimme a break thing” Four sticks can only break so much.
January 4th, 2008 at 6:05 pmthe snickers commercial with Jack Mulcahy, singing this: Happy peanuts soar over chocolate covered mountaintops and waterfalls of caramel. Prancing nougat in a meadow sings a song of satisfaction to the world.
that was good.
February 17th, 2008 at 6:08 pmWhat about B-O-N-O-M-O Bonomo Turkish Taffy? How could you NOT include “Chocolate is scrumptious when it crunches, that’s why I love Nestle Crunch”? And where’s “Wrigley Spearmint gum, gum, gum…carry the big fresh flavor… wherever you go, whatever you do… it’s the finest spearmint flavor” with the giant packs of Wrigley’s tucked under everybody’s armpit?
March 19th, 2008 at 2:49 amThe ad features a two-headed creature singing:
“Bit-O-Honey goes a long long way.
If you have one head, it lasts all day.”
Bonomo’s
“Oh Oh Oh! It’s Bonomo’s…………….Candy”
Brown & Haley Mountain Bar
“Brown & Haley makes ‘em daily………except Sundays”
Big Hunk: Cartoon Indian chief say:
May 14th, 2008 at 5:10 pmHunka..Hunk..Big Hunk…Biggest candy bar on reservation!
Actually, the creature singing the Bit-O-Honey song was a six headed creature. The Bit-O-Honey candy bar contained six pieces. Each head of the six headed creature ate a piece of the Bit-O-Honey and thus it was consumed in a few seconds. But, as the six headed creature said, “if you had one head, it would last all day.

November 25th, 2008 at 3:24 amDouble Mint Gum commercial.
I would LOVE to hear the Good’n Fruity Candy jingle from the early 70s. Here’s how much I remember of the song:
(lyrics are not exact)
There are rainbows in every package of GoodnFruity Candy…..
Cherry tastes good like the 4th of July
Lemon takes the sun right out of the sky
Orange makes you laugh til the sun goes down
and ?????? (can’t remember the last flavor part)
Open up a box and you’ll see that there are
rainbows in a package of GnF candy
Rainbows in a package of GnF candy!! (fade)
*If anyone has this song & the correct lyrics
PLEASE let me know

Georgette Thanks!!!
January 23rd, 2009 at 2:00 amCrunchy crunchy crunchy Nestle’s Crunch is so crunchy

Plenty milk chocolate with plenty to munch….
Not only very crunchy and munchy but apparently also soothes surly movie ushers!
My favorite candy ad though is Almond Joy/Mounds. Liked the ads, like the song, which is very good at staying in one’s memory forever!
