We’ve seen candy in all sort of candy recipes here on Candy Addict: cakes, cookies, brownies, cocktails, etc. One thing we’ve yet to mention so far? Candy in ice cream!
Whoever thought of this winning combination must be some sort of genius. The combination of the cool, smooth, creamy ice cream compliments the thick, chewy and substantial qualities of candy so well, it’s the ultimate play on textures and taste.
There are many ways that candy manifests itself in the realm of ice cream. First, there’s the candy in the ice cream, such as chocolate chips, pralines, toffee, gummi bears, mini peanut butter cups, peppermints sticks, marshmallows, gum balls, etc. Don’t forget the fudge, caramel and butterscotch ripples! This doesn’t even include all the non-candy flavors that serve as bases and accompaniments to the candy itself.
All this and we haven’t even discussed candy as ice cream toppings yet! Some popular ones include (but are not limited to):
- Chocolate Chips (dark, bittersweet, milk, white, butterscotch, cinnamon, etc)
- Sprinkles (chocolate and rainbow)
- Gummi bears
- M&Ms
- Reese’s Pieces
- Gumballs
- Nonpareils
- Mini marshmallows
- Crushed Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
- Toffee chunks
- Chocolate Chunks
- Malt Balls
- Crushed KitKats
- Crushed Butterfingers
There are also the strange candy/ice cream “spin-offs,” with candy flavored like ice cream and ice cream versions of our favorite candy bars:
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to raid my freezer! So, what candy do you like in your ice cream? What combinations do you like best?
Heath is by far my favorite. Coffee ice cream with Heath bits. YUM!
July 30th, 2007 at 1:31 pmMy boyfriend wooed me with a pint of coffee Haagen-Dazs and a paper sack filled with white chocolate Reese’s peanut butter cups. GREAT combination.
July 30th, 2007 at 3:49 pmAt the local convenience store they have all sorts of ice cream bars based on candy bars and candy. I saw at the local 7-11 the last time I was there a take 5 ice cream bar! I can’t wait to try it out! But we’ve been getting buster bars at Dairy queen lately, delicious chocolate, carmel, and roasted (I am assuming because they aren’t plain) nuts with vanilla ice cream yum!
August 20th, 2007 at 5:27 pmI don’t like how candy gets real hard in ice cream. Melty chocolate is better than cold chocolate.

Hi I am Marge reporting news about candy:
September 1st, 2007 at 1:11 amCandy is so good. That is why a guy liked candy and ice cream and he decided to put them together. He share with the world and now it is delicious. It is now the best topping for ice cream until they invent other ones. But the one the guy invented is still a good topping.
