I agree. It’s great to know how stuff works. I enjoy learning about how stuff works on Friday afternoons at the office, when the phone isn’t ringing, I don’t have time to start a new project and I’m in the mood for a little learning. I learn about things I take for granted, such as how my toilet operates, how UPS works, and how swearing works (and I thought I had it down, @*!&@). Luckily, the How Stuff Works crew has taken Candy Addicts into account and attempted to tackle some pressing issues that arise in the world of confections.

How Stuff Works will teach you how to make cotton candy, if you weren’t already aware that it’s nothing more than a little bit of liquid sugar whipped into a frenzy. I wish the article would also cover why a little liquid sugar whipped into a frenzy is so much more delicious and fun to eat than a couple of tablespoons of plain old sugar, but I suppose that would be speculation rather than science. And speaking of candy that is simple but awesome, check out how Pop Rocks candy works. Chemistry is so tasty.

You also might be interested in learning how manufacturers create hollow chocolate candies (specifically, hollow chocolate Easter rabbits). I’m interested in finding out because I’ve always found hollow chocolate candies to be a gigantic disappointment, and my boyfriend is interested because he thinks hollow chocolate bunnies are the perfect way to drink milk.

How Stuff works is truly a site for everyone – budding cooks can even find a catalog of yummy candy recipes. When you’re done learning about candy and whipping up your own batch ofcherry cheesecake bonbons, you might need some help removing pesky candy stains, which surely plague Candy Addicts everywhere.
