Despite it being made in Italy, I picked up this Kinder Bueno candy bar in my local (US) supermarket. Kinder Bueno is described on the package as “2 individually wrapped bars. Crunchy wafers with creamy nut filling in milk chocolate”.

The first thing I noticed is that while the package contains two bars (Twix style), each bar was individually wrapped, which isn’t nearly as common as it should be. When I was reading over the package, I noticed that it said that it had a nut filling, but it wasn’t peanut butter. Yes, a bar with a nut based filling other than peanut butter! A glance at the ingredient list shows that it’s in fact Hazelnut butter.

The candy themselves, are similar in shape to Twix, except the bars are broken into 4 separate compartments of hazelnut butter, separated by “bridges” of chocolate. The bottom of the bar is a wafer base. The taste reminded me of the Nutty Bars made by Little Debbie, except that the Hazelnut gives it a different taste. Overall it’s pretty good - I’d buy it again if in the mood for something a little different than the norm.

My mom and sisters are addicted to these! They first had them on a trip to France and have loved them ever since. I can find them in my local ShopRite, go figure.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:39 amThis looks good! I’ve been a fan of the Kinder Egg for a while and I’d love to find some Kinder Buenos here in the states. I might have to have my sister-in-law pick some up from Europe…
May 9th, 2007 at 12:12 amMy dad is a huge fan of these things, and he’s pretty bummed about coming to the U.S., and not being able to find them anywhere! There aren’t any ShopRites where I live, but is there any other U.S. grocery that they been found in?

September 6th, 2007 at 6:55 pmBesides Haribo Pfirsiche, these are the best candy in the world; I became absolutely addicted to them while living in Europe. When I found them at my local Fiesta supermarket here in Texas, I did a happy dance right there in the aisle.

September 19th, 2007 at 3:04 amYou found Kinder Buenos labeled for the US market? Amazing. I wish I could find those around here! I have to drive 2 hours to the German Import store to get them in Georgia! I wish Ferrero would hurry up and distribute them nationally in USA!
