I am 39 and used to love Now and Laters. As a kid growing up in New York, it was mandatory to get your bag of treats at the local bodega before school and EVERYONE would buy the obligatory 15 cent pack of “Nowalatas” as we used to say. I would buy a pack of cherry, grape and watermelon. I HATED banana and the chocolate flavor! I recall when you walked into certain classes, the smell of the candy would permanate the air and would make your mouth water. I am still a candy fan and cant stand the new formula Now and Laters. The best part was the hardness followed by the sharp tanginess. I have even tried putting a pack in the fridge but alas, the Now and Laters I recall from the 1980′s cannot be found!

NO NO NO! THIS CAN NOT BE! WHAT A BIG LET DOWN FOR ME. I AM TOTALY DEVESTATED THAT THE NOW AND LATER CANDY IS NOW TOO SOFT ….SO YOU MAKE A SOFT VERSION NOW BUT PLEASE DONT MESS WITH THE REGULAR! IF THEY DO NOT BRING BACK THE REGULAR HARD NOW AND LATERS I WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO JUMP OFF A BRIDGE!

I absolutly loathe these new now and laters. All they are is laffy taffy in small squares. These should be renamed to just “Laters”. The hard start was the best part as they transformed into a softer treat which kept some of its toughness and made your mouth water. These chew up a dissolve in about 3 seconds. The thing is, I purchased the regular 3 flavor pack that is packaged like starbursts. It doesnt say soft but they totally are and stink. I’m so dissapointed and hope this isnt a permanent new recipe. I want my original now n laters back! To the OP…..if you like these, go eat laffy taffy because thats all these are. Hopefully many agree with me so Farley’s and Sathers changes it back. BOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Love the original. Softer version taste nothing like them unfortunately. They almost taste like wax with a grease finish and aftertaste. I’m surprised there still available and some stores sell exclusively. Stick to the old if you own a store so future generations aren’t turned off to the name and can have the chance to enjoy the original for the first time.

I it just me, or are the new now and laters too soft? They used to be hard, I just bought some today, and I could bite into them from the moment I put them in my mouth.

Well, I love the original Now & Laters and thought I’d like the soft ones. They’re only sold in huge tubes so I ordered the banana flavored ones from Itsdirect2u.com and, IMO, these have a totally different flavor. They remind me more of Laffy Taffy, which I don’t like. I think I’ll give these away to the neighborhood kiddies and order some more of the regs. I tend to suck on them and not chew them, so they don’t hurt my teeth at all.

i actually *LUV* the regular now & later candy, but can’t stand these soft ones. the flavor is there like the orginals but i’m just not a fan of the soft. i even went so far as to put them in my fridge for a little while to try and harden them up to no avail. oh well, i’ll stick to the hard ones from now on.
