This candy was a gift from a fellow candy lover and I can fully understand why she chose it. Look at that gorgeous packaging! It’s really eye-catching! These “Strawberry Creme Chocolates” from Japanese candy-maker Morinaga are molded into strawberry shapes and have a creamy chocolate center. Each package comes with 10 chocolates that are just so cute! You almost don’t want to eat them….almost.
The smell similar to the yogurtey, sweet strawberry flavoring that is specific to Japan. What I find interesting is that these actually smell quite tart as opposed to very sweet like the other Japanese strawberry candies I’ve had. The strawberry white chocolate coating is not too small or large, perfect size and ratio in comparison to the chocolate center. I’d say 2:1 of chocolate creme to strawberry coating. The chocolate cream is dense and smooth and I hardly taste it at all! The strawberry chocolate coating is so powerful that it entirely dominates the whole piece of candy. I don’t mind this at all though. After all, these are strawberry chocolates, not chocolate strawberries.
These are really tasty and satisfying and worth picking up if you see them.
