As you may have noticed, the site has had a major facelift. It still needs just a little bit of tweaking, but it’s mostly ready, so here it is. Thanks go to E.Webscapes Design Studio for their excellent work and putting up with my pickiness (and hopefully they will help me tweak the last few things). I would definitely recommend them to anyone else looking for custom site design work.
So, whatcha think? Leave a comment!
It looks great!
April 8th, 2007 at 11:51 pmNot to repeat the antispamword, as that would be “subjective commenting”, your new look looks very refreshing!
April 9th, 2007 at 4:43 amWow, it looks gorgeous. Soft & sweet.
A suggestion – your “keywords” are listed above the “categories” for the site and are kind of confusing. The keywords take you to technorati (off of your site). I think they should go under your category tags. But that’s a totally minor thing.
I also might suggest just a little padding at the very top on the left column where your ad is. It just needs 10 pixels or so.
I love the little Mike and Ike separators … so yummy!
April 9th, 2007 at 1:43 pmThe site looks awesome!! It’s so delicious!! I agree with comment number three, it could use a little extra space at the top. Hey just a quick question have you done a review on the Lindt Lindor chocolates? If not head to your local grocey and buy some!! The have this delicious truffle center that quite literally melt in your mouth!!!! My favorite is the milk chocolate shell with the white chocolate center! Sometimes if you leave them in a slightly warm area like on top of your computer monitor for a couple of hours the center melts! They are so delicous. But only if you buy a fresh pack…sometimes the packs aren’t so fresh and don’t really melt in your mouth. But when you do find a good pack it is well worth it.
April 9th, 2007 at 4:55 pmIt’s wonderful!
April 9th, 2007 at 6:37 pmI always had trouble with the old one being transparent when it was slow loading and I had to highlight it to read it.
But now its so sweet and refreshing!^^
The header graphics definitely doesn’t “pop” out at you- it looks like very generic clip art at best, from the graphics to the font which imo should be more representative of what the blog is about. The candy jar and scattered candy would look much better in the header… actually anything photorealistic would look better- this is in the age of web 2.0 and all that silliness, you know.
Hate the ads layout- it’s like your blog is completely sandwiched between ads- i mean you have ads on all sides of this blog scattered every which way. How about a few rotating ads? You’d save screen real estate and satisfy the advertisers as well.
How about drop down menus? That would take care the Categories section on the right. I don’t know if people are really going to click on Readers Comments- check your web logs at the end of the month to see what sections are getting clicks and adjust accordingly.
A background other than white for the site would be nice- it’s a bit stark to me.
I know this website is your baby and nobody likes criticism, but please know that this is only meant to be constructive. I’ve been designing and coding websites for a long long time and i know what i like as well as what works. The site does look nice, though i’m not sure that this is much of a major change from the former look and design. Have you looked into pre-designed templates that you could drop in? There are so many professional looking ones that you can purchase and customize for your site. No offense to E.Webscapes but i hope hope hope they didn’t charge you a lot to facelift this site.
If i had to vote, i’d go for the old site instead. (Sorry, just being honest!)
April 9th, 2007 at 10:40 pmDefinitely like the new look! A lot more cleaner and a more white space…I like white space.
April 10th, 2007 at 4:38 amThank you for redesigning! I’m stuck in the boonies with terribly slow dial-up and the new design loads up so much more quickly. I have to agree that the header graphics are a little blah, but as long as you keep putting the yummy pictures with each entry, I’m happy. After all, the candy reviews are why we’re here–it’s the writing that’s important.
April 10th, 2007 at 10:00 amI love the new site! Much easier to read!!
April 10th, 2007 at 11:13 amwow. Its amazing! Your site is always so inspiring to read. Beats news on the war anyday. :)
April 10th, 2007 at 1:21 pmWow, I for one love it. It totally gives off that smooth and crisp “candy” type feeling and it’s just downright nice to look at! Kudos.
April 14th, 2007 at 3:24 amI love candy too! Although, candy in China isn’t the same as candy in America.
