Browsing a candy bin at a local stoere, a cute drawing of a kid making a sour face grabbed my attention. I noticed it was a bag of Sour Jujyfruits, which I had never seen before. I grabbed it immediately, tossing it into my cart atop some other interesting goodies. Jujyfruits are gummies known for being hard to chew, and some of the new sour candies coming out are pretty extreme. So, I braced myself and opened my mouth.
Hey! The sour aspect was super tasty, like a sour sugar coating. Hard to chew? Not at all! They are really soft and the fruit flavors come out nicely. I was impressed! In fact, I tried a few and set them down on a table across the room… and repeatedly got up to grab another handful! I felt like Cookie Monster, greedily going back again and again until they were gone.
Dedicated fans of the original Jujyfruits might be disappointed. The texture is much softer and the overall flavor is pretty different. The shapes (that are almost irrelevant to the flavors) of the candy are the main common thread. However, fans of a good mix of fruity, sweet and sour will be delighted!

Well I noticed that as the Jujyfruits sit on the shelves, they become that nice and hard to chew texture.. I got a new shipment of the jujys at work once and they were.. egad.. soft.. Yuck. I hate soft jujyfruits now.
