It seems there is an endless stream of variations of Hershey’s Kisses nowadays, and we can add one more to the list: Candy Cane Kisses. I picked up a mini 1.12 oz package at a Walgreen’s for 49 cents about two weeks ago and promptly forgot about them until now.
The Candy Cane Kisses are mint-flavored white chocolate Kisses, with “stripes and candy bites”. Unfortunately, these made of the dreaded (to me anyway) white chocolate, so they don’t really appeal to me. They have a slight mint taste to them, and yes, there are tiny crushed up candy cane pieces in the Kisses, but the combo just doesn’t work for me.
The hint of mint, and the underlying white chocolate taste are enough to turn me off. The candy cane pieces do add an interesting twist to the usual formula, but they’re nothing special and are clearly intended to just be used as stocking stuffers. I don’t envision people going nuts over these like the Cordial Cherry Kisses. The Candy Cane Kisses are “limited edition”, so if you want to give them a try, act fast.

December 20th, 2006 at 11:13 amHaving tried these, there actually aren’t any candy cane pieces in there. It’s actually little nonpairels, those little sugar thingy’s. They are alright, but saying that they are the only ones left in my office candy dish I guess they didn’t go over too well.

January 14th, 2007 at 6:05 pmThe candy cane kisses are fantastic. The only problem is mine are all gone and I can’t seem to find more. I wasn’t to sure about them until I tried one and two and three and more and more, I need more. This is the best Hershyey’s Kiss so far.

February 21st, 2007 at 10:40 pmI picked up a pack of these during the after Christmas sales out of curiousity. They’re delicious! I’m not usually a peppermint fan, but the mint in these was very subtle. Just like a commenter above noted, they taste a lot like Smooth ‘N Melty candies. Has anybody tried the new Confetti Kisses? They look kind of similar, only without the hint of mint flavoring. I wondered if they were good.

Last year after the holiday season ended I have to admit I was one of those that paid the over priced item just to have one last treat. November 27th, 2007 at 5:28 pmI found these last year and gathered and stored enuf after last Christmas to last me through to just before Halloween (may actually still have a couple tiny bags hiding). It’s great for those of us allergic to all other chocolates, and peppermint is good for the stomach if upset (after a meal or upsets at other times). Year round availability would be great.
