A while back I told you about the site makeover that was in the works and promised to let you see some mock-ups. Above you see a sneak peek at what the site will look like (hopefully soon). It’s not exactly perfect yet, but it’s just a mock-up and we’ll tweak it a bit more before we go with it. Once we get it up and running and in a staging area on the site, I’ll let you all take a REAL look at it and give me some feedback on how it looks and performs.

What do you think so far? Let me know (please?)!

As a side note, this is the 500th post that I have written on Candy Addict (and that doesn’t count the other 150 the other writers have done)!

Great template- i like it! IMHO, it would make more sense to swap the left and right nav columns, i.e. have the links/recent news/reviews in the left nav column (since they will be used the most) and the adverts/info on the right. Don\’t like the big banner under the header but you gotta pay the bills somehow!

RESPONSE: it is just a mockup. There will not be a big advertising banner there (well, I don\’t have one planned anyway). Also, I plan on leaving navigation/site links in the right column and ads in the left – just as it is now.

    Looks great!

The only suggestion I\’d make is maybe go with bolder colors rathar than the pastels…I could be wrong though! :P

RESPONSE: I like the pastels – looks very candy-ish (IMHO)! :)

When you implement the redesign, can you change your stylesheet so the text doesn\’t become totally invisible when my cursor is over the page. To read candyaddict, I\’ve had to move my mouse offscreen.

RESPONSE: What browser/OS are you using? I bet it\’s a Mac using Safari – if so, it\’s a known issue. Rest assured all issues like that will be solved in the new layout.

Looks really good and functional tho the advertiser banner looks a bit off center…

RESPONSE: It\’s just a mockup. Little details like that will be fixed. More than likely, that ad banner won\’t even be there.

Hmmm… The preview looks very slick and easily navigable, which is good. However, the present look has a lot more personality. Somehow, the new page feels… programmed. I think I may be biased, since I have always adored a more handmade touch and I think collages are really fun to look at.
Though pastels do make me think of cotton candy and cupcakes, bright colors make me think of candy. Again, that\’s just me, though!
I guess my overall feeling is that the new look is almost \”too polished\”… I am always reluctant to criticize anything, as I am a big supporter of encouraging creativity of all kinds! I just felt I should mention the new look needs more \”YOU\”! ^_^

RESPONSE: The old look is all done by me and it has lots of (HTML/CSS) problems :) If I knew more about WordPress templates I would try to fix them myself (assuming I had free time), but I don\’t so I had to hire out. I like the new look and what you see in the mockup is NOT the final version. It will be tweaked a bit before it goes live.

I gotta say, I like it. The pastels give away an easy and “light” look and just from the preview, the site looks easy to navigate and clear cut. I think in the long run it will definitely help to have a cleaner and more professional looking site.

I think your current site sucks, but hey, you educate about candy so I can suffer through. The new site page looks pretty, fun (great colors and organization) and great(really…isn’t anything better than what you have now??!!) I hope it works out for you and thank you so very much for doing this website….for all of us…it’s super fun for grown-up die-hard candy addicts.

I love the site now. This is really a great resourse to learn about new candies and brush up my knowlege on a few “old school” candies as well. I like the graphics and the picutures are just dangerous to my diet. You make me want what I shouldn’t want..mmmm I don’t care.
