(Although I read the book "The Coffee Trader" when a character mistaken eats coffee beans before realizing they're meant to be seeped). But I was driving home late from Thanksgiving and deciding I didn't want to keep drinking liquids (coffee/espressos) I decided to buy some of the Starbucks variety of choc. cover espresso beans. I decided I liked crunching through the beans. The chocolate was very pedestrian. I don't know if it really kept me awake though. Since I didn't crash the car however maybe that's a good sign they really are caffienated. I originally didn’t think coffee beans were edible by themselves.
