The Breaking Point of Gummi Worms

Gummi Worm

I think it’s safe to say that pretty much every Candy Addict among us would have been thrilled to be a 1st grader learning math with a fun, yet delicious learning tool – gummi worms! Well, at the Museum Magnet School of the Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul, that’s just what a class got to do.

It turns out they also learned some interesting facts about gummi worms. Not exactly tempered steel, but a single worm can hold a whopping 120 pennies, and can stretch to 9 inches long. I guess that kinda explains why they can be so darn hard to chew sometimes, huh?

  1. Yeah, I was totally hoping it would be a series of experiments involving candy or something, but it turns out they were studying *worms* of all things. I guess it would be, you know… wrong or something to use real worms. And kind of disgusting, too.
