Galerie Gourmet Candy Corn

Candy corn is a Halloween classic that people seem to either love or hate. Candy corn for me has always been a take it or leave it proposition – if I have no other candy to eat, I’ll eat it but it’s definitely not one of my favorite candy choices. When Galerie offered to send me some gourmet flavored candy corn to review, I jumped at the chance. I was hoping their flavored candy corn would change my mind about candy corn in general.

Galerie’s gourmet candy corn comes in three varieties: Cherry, Green Apple, and Tangerine. They are exactly the same size and shape of “normal” candy corn, but the colors are different. They still have the three distinctive color layers but the colors themselves are new and different – and quite cool-looking. The texture and consistency is exactly like that of regular candy corn, it’s just the flavors that are different

The Cherry is yellow, pink, and red and tastes pretty good. It’s not overpowering, but has a nice subtle flavor that goes well with the general candy corn flavor. The Green Apple is orange, yellow, and green in color. The Green Apple flavor really packs a kick – it reminds me of a Green Apple Jolly Rancher. Not for the weak. The Tangerine is purple, yellow, and orange in color. The Tangerine flavor is probably my favorite. I’m not sure what differentiates a tangeringe flavor from an orange flavor, but they got it right. I would definitely say this tastes like tangerine snd not orange – though a *very* sweet tangerine.

Overall, if you like candy corn, you will probably like these interesting variations on the original. If you don’t like candy corn, I doubt these will change your opinion of the classic candy corn. I don’t see myself ever buying them for myself to munch, but these would probably do very well at a Halloween-themed party for your guests to munch. My review samples came in 10 oz. bags, but they also come in jars (as seen above) and you can find them locally at stores such as Target, Wal-Mart, and Kohl’s. The bags retail for about $1.99 per bag.

The cherry ones were way more cherry and sweet than I was expecting. I was a tad sad. :/
