Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites – where have you been all my life? I had seen these occasionally in the past but never felt compelled to try them for some reason. Recently, for our Massive Candy Giveaway, A Taste of Nature (the company that makes them) donated a 12 pack of them for the giveaway and I asked if I could have one for myself to review.
I have always loved uncooked cookie dough (and brownie batter, and cake batter, etc., etc.) so I was curious to see how these tasted. The candies themselves are small – a bit bigger than M&Ms and rounder – the actual candies are various sizes too – they are not all (excuse the pun) “cookie-cutter” sized the same. They are essentially cookie dough dipped in chocolate. (NOTE: these contain NO eggs)
They got the taste just right – the chocolate to dough ratio is exactly right – the perfect balance of both. It’s sweet, but not too sweet and the dough even has that grainy, raw sugary texture to it just like real cookie dough. I didn’t see much/any actual chips in it, but it didn’t matter because the chocolate coating was the perfect chocolate accent for it.
If you like raw cookie dough even the slightest bit, I don’t see how you could not like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites. I promised myself I would only eat a few of them and save the rest for later and I ended up eating a whole box in one sitting. It took all my willpower not to keep the other 11 boxes for myself, but I did let them go to the giveaway winners.
They are truly awesome and worthy of the Candy Addict Awesomely Addictive Candy Award.
Oh man I have GOT to get me one of these! hee hee
I love munching cookie dough, although since I got salmonella from making a quiche once (and yes I washed my hands thoroughly after cracking the eggs), I make sure it’s w/eggless recipes only, lol.
Oooooo. Gotta find where to get them! YUmmmm
October 13th, 2006 at 5:27 amHey, thanks for reviewing these! I’ve always seen them at Blockbuster and thought eeew, how could shelf-stable imitation cookie dough possibly be any good?? But I love the real stuff, so now you’ve got me excited to try these!
October 13th, 2006 at 9:05 amThese things are awesome. I ate them almost everyday when I worked at a movie theatre.
October 13th, 2006 at 10:46 amThese things are maybe one of movie concessions’ best kept secrets — they look terribly generic, they’re not a brand-name product, but they’re so much BETTER than most of the Mars/Hershey/Nestle crap on hand. I was wary of them when I first tried them too, but I love cookie dough enough that I gave them a chance, and I was hooked after the first palmful. Soooo good.
October 13th, 2006 at 11:05 amI had some of these and couldn’t stand them, which is strange because I love cookie dough and I love chocolate. Maybe I got a bad box? Your review makes me want to buy another box and give the candy another chance. In the meantime, I’m off to the fridge for a break-and-bake snack, minus the baking…
October 14th, 2006 at 1:39 pmHmm…if you take out the risk of salmonella poisoning, does eating chocolate chip cookie dough provide the same thrill?
I’m not sure.
But in any case, I suppose I’ll have to wait till I’m back in the U.S. to try these. They don’t seem to go in for the dough here in the U.K.
October 15th, 2006 at 6:17 pmI have loved the Cookie Dough bites since I first tried them about 5 years ago at the movies. I don’t get to go to the movies much now that I have kids. So I buy them at the Dollar Tree. They sell the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites and the Chocolate Brownie Bites. I am now trying to find where I can buy them online. I have to eat these when I watch movies at home. THE BEST CANDY EVER!!!!
February 9th, 2007 at 7:13 pmTried a box of these today, and LOVE THEM! Will definatly get more.

April 11th, 2007 at 4:12 pmMy favorite kind of candy is this kind!! But ill be frank here, after eating a carton of this candy the addictions rose and i had one every week!
April 11th, 2007 at 4:27 pmI LOVE CANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 3rd, 2007 at 7:18 pmI tried these a year ago and hated them. I bought a pack last night to give them another try and I still hate them. They taste nothing like cookie dough. The texture is crispy and the chocolate is of poor quality. I would not recommend these to anyone.
August 28th, 2007 at 2:12 pmI have to say that these things are in my top ten favorite candies. I first tried them when I got a box at a Blockbuster in Massachusetts, and I was hooked. I now live in Texas and the local Blockbuster has them, so I’m guessing a lot of them carry these. I have a box waiting for me now, but I’msaving it for when I watch a movie.
August 31st, 2007 at 9:12 pmNEWS REPORT
Hi this Marge reporting on candy:
The cookie Dough Bites is a very good treat for the theaters, outside, anywhere! This candy is on alot of kids lists of top ten. If you want to taste it, it could be in Walmart, and stores near you. And this just in, Cookie Dough Bites are now opening in theaters! It is becoming a top candy seller in most theaters. This candy was made because the inventor always saw that children made cookies, but they have to eat from bowls. But now they can pop one in their mouths and enjoy it. This is my favorite newsreport so far! Any way, if you have’nt tried them yet, then you should buy one.
September 1st, 2007 at 1:52 amThey are delicious!!!
(to be continued)
Like Michelle (comment #12), I didn’t care for the texture of these Cookie Dough Bites. I didn’t find them to be chewy or grainy at all. Instead they were hard and crispy. They kind of tasted like Whoppers only not as chocolatey. Maybe my box was old or something. I’ll have to try try them again sometime.

March 27th, 2008 at 9:21 pmcookie dough bites ROCK! I LOVE THEM
April 6th, 2008 at 11:03 amCookie Dough Bites are absolutely the BEST candy ever. I used to only buy them at the the theatres and video stores, but I am starting to see them at other retailers now!!! Everytime I see them – I always pick up a box. Chocolate Chip is still my favorite, but I tried the Fudge Brownie for the first time last month and that is a strong #2 — very rich fudgy and deeeelicious flavor!
April 26th, 2008 at 9:21 amI just can’t get into these! I love cookie dough, but these just taste too dry for me. They taste nothing like the bits in cookie dough ice cream. It’s been a while since I had them though, so I suppose I should give them another try.
July 24th, 2008 at 12:20 pmGod, these are possibly the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted. I no longer trust or respect the sacred awesomely addictive award.
February 1st, 2009 at 11:05 pmWtf! Ordered these from America and got them delivered to the UK, I absolutely love cookie dough so I was looking forward to these. But my oh my, what an amazing let down! They don’t even slightly taste like cookie dough, they’re pretty disgusting and a total waste of money.
Why don’t they make it actually taste like cookie dough? I’m sure they’d sell a lot more! Plus the fudge brownie variety are just as disgusting too.
The peanut butter Reese’s pieces on the other hand are the nicest candy to ever come from America, best purchase ever!
September 8th, 2011 at 3:22 pmI’m eating them for the first time now. I’m also trying the cupcake flavor. Yum to both, though I am more of a cookie fan than cupcake. I think the people calling them “crispy” got a bad box. Mine are exactly like the chunks of cookie dough in ice cream and grainy like real dough as well. I found them at 7-11 in Canada and the lady at the counter made a comment that she hadn’t seen them before so I assume they’re new here. I would definitely buy another box if they’re there the next time I’m in 711! ( I don’t think I’d buy the cupcake again but thats a personal preference)
