IT’SUGAR is a brand new 6,000 square foot department store that recently opened in Atlantic City. Let me repeat – SIX THOUSAND SQUARE FEET OF CANDY. They have over 5,000 types of candy and 250 types of ice cream. They have a “Make-Your-Own Candy Bar” facility where you can even pick your own fillings and they have the largest selection of Jelly Belly jellybeans and M&Ms in the world.
IT’SUGAR even has an animatronic band called “The Candy Rappers”. (remember Chuck E. Cheese and Showbiz Pizza?). The band members’ names are Lemonem, Scoop Dogg, and Shoogar Bear. Too funny. You can hear a sampling of their music at the IT’SUGAR MySpace page – it’s actually pretty darn good. The Candy Rappers actually have a full CD out and they are sending me one to review.
In the meantime, our “man on the streets”, David, is going to try and stop by the store this weekend and get the scoop since he lives near there anyway. Hopefully we’ll have a report from him next week.
So while the parents go off to gamble they send their kids to get high on sugar! Genius!
September 29th, 2006 at 10:33 amMmm, make your own candy bar…
DANG IT! Where is my local franchise?
September 29th, 2006 at 12:37 pmI think heaven MUST be Atlantic City, now.
September 29th, 2006 at 6:43 pmThe Candy Rappers bear a suspicious similarity to Chuck E. Cheese’s band–the one that used to scare me so much when I was little and would go to friends’ b-day parties there. Hmm….
September 29th, 2006 at 7:52 pmokay wait let me get this right…buy candy FIRST, gamble, console self with said candy. i could do it for days. i’m going to atlantic city in december. i’ll let you know how much money i lost because it will be directly and inextricably linked to how many pounds i gain from now on.
October 2nd, 2006 at 8:04 pmI stopped in this store when I was in AC the first week of August, and it’s really cool. The staircase in the middle of the room that leads up to the ice cream parlor is a huge strip of candy dots. They’ve got a massive elephant in there covered entirely of jelly beans, but I can’t remember how many. The store is situated directly across from the boardwalk entrance to Caesars. It’s a new pier they’ve built that is a mall of high end stores. At the end of the pier they are building a fountain that moves to music (similar to Bellagio fountains, but a much smaller scale). We got to watch some of the testing of the fountains, awesome! It’sugar is a must see if you visit AC!!!
October 2nd, 2006 at 11:50 pmyeah its a very awesome store. i go to AC also so I go there once in a while, since I sleep at Caesars once in awhile i wander off to the candy store or the restaurants in the pier. the candy is just ridiculously everywhere.. as stated “it is heaven”…. bring like $100 and you will be fat and happy 4 the rest of your life!

March 26th, 2007 at 4:31 pmTHIS CANDY IS THE BEST I COULD LIVE IN IT’SUGAR CUZZ OF ALL OF THE YUMMY CANDY AND THE MAKE YOUR OWN CANDY BAR IS GREAT !!!
July 11th, 2007 at 4:35 pmI love that place! Good thing that our hotel was near the other end of the boardwalk, cause at least I got some exercise walking back and forth about 4 times. The make your own candy bar was delicious and I got some interesting chocolate covered treats (like brownies and cookie dough–but take a pass on the chocolate covered gummy bears–bleh). Oh and the Candy Rapper were strange…
July 31st, 2007 at 6:49 pmCan you buy things from itsugar on the internet??
August 10th, 2007 at 9:07 amI went and its the best store ever!
I would LOVE to work with you folks!
I have a long and strong work history in retail sales. I see that you have a store in Universal Walk. Do you have a store near Studio City/ Sherman Oaks?
Wonderful concept!
