I’m still amazed that there are marshmallows other than those “Stay-Puff” things we find in the grocery store. After trying Laura’s, I see that those others are just “posing” as marshmallows. Comparing the fakes to real gourmet marshmallows is like comparing apples to oranges – two different tastes altogether.
Laura’s Candy sent me a bunch of different marshmallows to try and to be honest, I have only gotten to half of them, but the ones I have tried are great! They are so much softer and “springier” than store-bought marshmallows and the flavors are just incredible. The Double Dark Chocolate was amazing as was the Double Mocha Latte. The Razzle Dazzle Raspberry is made with real raspberries and you can tell – it has a tart raspberry taste to it. The Mandarin Orange was surpringly tart and not too sweet with a good orange flavor to it. The Very Vanilla was really good – it has a strong vanilla flavor and an extra coating of some kind of sugar or something that added an extra sugary kick to it.
Those are just a few of the flavors they have. Some others available: Black Jelly Bean, Zesty Lemon, Perfectly Peppermint, Jumpin’ Jack Daniels, and Almondy Amaretto (those last two are made with “premium spirits”). My wife and I were thinking of different things you could do with these flavors. Use them in s’mores, put them in tea (Zesty Lemon), in hot chocolate (Perfectly Peppermint) – there are tons of things you can use them in and with. They’re pretty good by themselves too.
Black Jelly Bean marshmellows that sounds so yummy :-) Mandarin Orange also sounds great. Wish they were sold here.
September 1st, 2006 at 8:11 pmI love the marshmallows that kraft puts out. The toasted coconut kind. A fresh bag doesn’t last long around me. I haven’t seen any in a while. I might have to buy some of these gourmet marshmallows around Christmas time!
