Munch’s Scream Painting Recovered Because of M&Ms?

Munch's Scream

In what I can only call a strange twist of fate, the Edvard Munch masterpiece, “The Scream” was recovered only 11 days after M&Ms announced a 2 million Dark M&M’s reward for its recovery. The painting, seen above, was stolen on August 22, 2004 from the Munch Museum in Oslo, Norway and hasn’t been seen since.

I joked about the criminal turning himself in for the candy reward, and it looks like one of the crooks involved did turn over the paintings….whether or not he heard about the M&Ms reward is unknown. M&M’s has promised to make good on the reward offer. Two million M&M’s Dark Chocolate Candies translates to approximately 40,000 1.69 ounce bags with a retail value of about $22,000.00.

The truth is stranger than fiction.

  1. HAHA Can you imagine $22,000 worth of M&M’s!?

RESPONSE: Yeah. I’d find things to do with them. :)

  2. In my mind that must have been the only reason that the criminal turned in himself and the painting. Not for the sake of art, but for the CANDY…dark chocolate especially!

  3. lmao, if i was the criminal i would turn the painting in… who would pass up the chance to have 2 million M&M’s? I think M&M’s planned that stunt for publicity, they didnt actually think someone would turn in the painting, but I guess it back fired. >.
