I’m a huge fan of ABC’s Lost. When I first saw the Apollo Chocolate Bar on Lost, I did some Googling to see if it was real (it wasn’t). There were all kinds of theories on the meaning of “Apollo” as the bar’s name and I meant to write about it but never got around to it.
UPDATE: the website referenced in this post is now a BAD site. I have removed the links.
Now, ABC (at least I think it’s ABC) has created a website for the candy bar at http://apollocandy.com. There are lots of Lost clues in the few pages there – well worth checking out if you are into Lost. The coolest part is that they have actually made some Apollo Bars and they aren’t for sale – they are giving them away!
The Apollo Candy Company is thrilled to announce our legendary Apollo Bars are being given away free for a limited time at the following locations and times. Supplies are limited, so just one bar per person per location. Act fast! Once these Apollo bars are gone, they’re really gone.
Locations include:
- New York, NY
- Philadelphia
- Washington, D.C.
- Chicago
- Los Angeles
- San Francisco
For exact times and locations, go to http://apollocandy.com and click on the red, white, and blue “U.S. Distributors” image. They even have a fake commercial for the bars that says “Not available in stores”. I predict the day after they give away the first one, there will be one on eBay and it will sell for more than $100 – easily (not that that’s a huge stretch really).

The Japanese candy company, Meiji has been making Apollo Chocolate for ages. Here’s the page on their site with the unfortunate Engrish URL:
http://www.meiji.co.jp/catalog/sweets/kids/aporo/
You can see it with an English description on Amazon.
I can’t say I’ve ever tried them since it’s not really chocolate, and strawberry at that.

Talk about a tight window and select cities.
Looks like I’ll be resorting to ebay if I want to get my hands on one of these.
RESPONSE: Yeah – I have a feeling these will be hard to come by

August 17th, 2006 at 10:52 pmI have some pretty funny shirts online that Im looking to promote, I’l love it if you passed it on. check out the link see what its mostly about. thanks
Guys? Seriously. If you are not playing the game, still hold onto the wrappers. We who play TLE are insane about this giveaway, but not for the candy itself… there are supposed to be clues on the wrapper to a game we’ve been following for 4 months. It’s a lot more complicated than just this giveaway.
