Sometimes I feel like I’m missing the point of a trend, and with Sqyntz!, I definitely feel clueless. After picking up a $1.99 tin of the sugar free Tropical Fruit SuperSourz at Winn-Dixie, I felt like I’d eat a few Sqyntz! and be part of a club of candy consumers that includes Pink and Frankie Muniz (their pictures are on the Myntz! website). I may be part of the club now, but my overriding reaction to membership is ‘I don’t care.’
When I see a description like “SuperSourz,†I think of Sour Patch Kids and other face-twisting candy. Sqyntz! are nearly tasteless and definitely not sour. I didn’t think any of the three flavors in the Tropical Fruit tin—Maui Melon, Pineapple/Mango, and Kiwi/Lime—tasted much different from each other, and the candy shape is the same regardless of flavor. My dad likes the Sqyntz!, so maybe I’m just not a sugar-free-candy person.
Sqyntz! also come in Orchard Blend, and Maui Melon Instastripz. Other Myntz! products include several flavors under the original brand name, plus Dropz. All of them are free of sugar and aspartame. Myntz! are making the rounds in pop culture, but I guess I’ll stay uncool if their other products are as cruddy as Sqyntz!.
I have tried the Cinnamon Myntz! Instastripz and they were NASTY. –Brian
If you can find than I am sure they must be wonderful: I recently acquired a little box of “INDICTMENTS” with pictures of Chaney, Rove an couple of others I do not recognize. I have not opened the box.
