After being missing in action for more than ten years, Marshmallow Munchie is making a comeback this summer. The 2-ounce crisp rice treats were given a makeover by their manufacturer, Choice Foods, llc., in time for the All Candy Expo. Unlike other similar bars, “marshmallow” is the first ingredient listed on the Munchie package.
Marshmallow Munchies should debut in a mallow-friendly retail climate—sales of rice squares increased by 32.49% in 2005, passing the chocolate chip cookie as America’s favorite snack, according to the Information Resources, Inc. Munchies will be marketed nationwide through convenience stores. I haven’t seen one yet, but I’ll be checking out my neighborhood Quick Trip until I get my hands on one. I never tried a Munchie the first time around, but I’m willing to bet some people are doing a little mallow dance after waiting a decade for the Munchie to return.
