Candy-Themed Graduation Party

Categories: Candy

I’m going to have to start a category on the site called “Dear Candy Addict” for all the candy questions I get. Just call me the “Ann Landers of Candy”. Here’s an email I received from a reader named Falise about her niece’s graduation from high school:

Dear Candy Addict,
My niece chose candy as her graduation theme. I am trying to come up with clever decorating ideas and thought you might be a great place to start with your wealth of resources. Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated.

I thought I would find candy adorning everything but now I am dating myself because that is not the case. I found candy on two types of fabric design today but fairly boring.

Thanks,
Falise

Falise,

Hmmm … decorating is definitely not my forte, but I’ll give it a go. If you are looking for fabric, give ebay a try. I tried a search on ebay and found a bunch of candy-themed fabric. I also found a bunch by using Google to search for candy fabric.

Also, you could order a candy bouquet or two to decorate the table(s). You can find some here at Amazon or at Candy Crate.

Another idea is to get a retro candy basket/gift box or two to let the youngsters see what kinds of candy we ate when we were kids. You can get some at Old Time Candy.

If the candy theme of the party isn’t decided yet, I vote for a weird/gross candy theme. I LOVE gross candy and I bet most high schoolers would too. You can find all kinds of gross candy at Stupid.com like Ear Wax Candy, ABC Gum, Lunch Meat Bubble Gum, Dog Food Candy, Sardine Candy, Sour Flush Candy, Tooth Ache Candy, Candy Teef, and Gummi Bacon. Don’t forget some Bertie Bott’s jellybeans and some Fear Factor Candy to round it all out.

That’s all I’ve got. Any readers have suggestions?

If she’s looking for candy fabric, I’ve seen some at JoAnn’s (which I believe is a national chain)… both non-trademarked (monkeys with candy and sweets flannel) and trademarked (cotton with tootsie rolls or dots or other candies).

I wish I had a candy themed graduation party, or any candy themed party. Mmmm.

I’m having my candy themed party this weekend! I have big cylinder vases to pile candy in, candy colored plates and napkins, a chandelier I’m making out of candy (airheads and dots and gummy bears all strung together), garlands of hard candies (hot glued together), and helium balloons wrapped in cellophane and tied on either side with ribbon like hard candy.

i had a candy themed style show and i attatched (with good clear tape)fishing wire to large peices of candy and hung them from the ceiling indivually,it was kind of tedious but with help and ample time to decorate it was so worth it.When you came in the room you got the affect of it raining candy.
