I stopped by my local Dollar General Store the other day (which isn’t a dollar store, but a store that sells cheap stuff priced in dollar increments) and found a bunch of great candy. The candy will be great fodder for some (funny) reviews, so this week will be “Dollar General Store Candy Week” and I will review all the candy. Most of the reviews will be short but they should be funny. I’ll still post all of the usual candy stuff too.
I took pictures of all of them and posted them already for you to see ahead of time. The candies are: American Idol Klik, Burstin Bits Popping Candy, Hulk and Fred Flintstones Candy Sticks, Chubby Cotton Candy Cream Soda, Crazy Dips Crackling Candy + Lollipop, Tutti Frutti Hit, and Rocklets.
Grand total for all of this candy goodness? $2.63 (and $1.00 of that was for the American Idol Klik). More to come….
OMG- I am so jealous!
Do you KNOWWWWW how much I used to hunt for the little boxes of candy sticks, just like the ones you have in your posession? =(
The absolute only place they could ever be located was in the claw-drop game at my local Lampost Pizza, and you were guaranteed NEVER to get what you desired with that thing until you had blown a small fortune… and even then sometimes!
Lucky, lucky guy…… enjoy!
RESPONSE: Hehe – they were only $0.10 each too :) – review coming….

[...] As I mentioned yesterday, I picked up a bunch of cheap candy at Dollar General Store and I thought I’d review them this week. First up is a bag of Rocklets – an obvious M&M’s clone. [...]
April 3rd, 2006 at 9:16 pm[...] Two more Dollar General Store candy reviews today…the first one is Tutti Frutti Hit. These are essentially Tic Tac knockoffs. The Tutti Frutti pack contains many different colors, each is a different flavor. The flavors are: purple is grape, yellow is lemon, orange is orange, green is green apple, and red is strawberry. April 6th, 2006 at 10:01 pmHello,
The drug stores used to sell a candy in a can that was what I called “puff” candy. Round, more air than candy balls that melted easily in your mouth. I remember a wintergreen or spearmint one that was light green with darker green stripes. Any idea of the name of this candy and if it still might be available?
Thank you….
January 24th, 2008 at 5:15 pmYou need to be cautious eating Dollar General candy. The schools where I live wouldn’t allow the kids to give out candy today (valentines day) because dollar General has reported that forein objects were found in some of their candy. There were alot of disappointed kids today because of them.
February 14th, 2008 at 4:56 pmTo John Witzell, Did you ever find out the name of that candy – I too have been searching all over! I used to get them from Rose’s Department Store…please let me know if you got the name – I remember they had butterscotch flavored balls too….yum!
September 4th, 2008 at 9:17 pmRussell Stover confirmed that they were the makers but that they were no longer available. They actually answered my email query. I was surprised by that.
Sorry….
