Foosh Energy Mints

Foosh Energy Mints are billed as “Seriously Caffeinated” and they aren’t kidding…they contain 100mg of caffeine which is equal to one cup of coffee or 1.25 cans of Red Bull. They also contain ginseng, taurine, and five B vitamins. Sounds great for those of us that don’t drink coffee and need a pick-me-up or for those times when a cup of coffee is not handy.

The mints themselves are about 2.5 to 3 times as large as your average (Altoids-sized) mint, have random blue specks in them, a cool radiation symbol on one side, and FOOSH on the other. They come in small tins of 12 mints or smaller blister packs of 6 mints.

To be honest, they are not the best-tasting mints in the world, but they aren’t the worst either. At first taste they remind me of the mint-flavored white Tums. They are also a tad gritty, not terrible, but noticeable. The mints are peppermint and have a nice kick to it – not on the level of Altoids, but definitely not wimpy.

They do leave an odd aftertaste in my mouth, but that is probably the caffeine. Caffeine actually has an unpleasant taste and the makers of Foosh Mints had to come up with a formula to pack in a lot of caffeine but also make it palatable. They did a good job except for the excusable aftertaste. A few drinks of a beverage knocks out the lingering taste.

Wow – I’m a lightweight. As I said before in the Jolt Gum review, I don’t drink coffee, and I just finished one of these mints while writing/researching this review and I am buzzing. I’ll definitely keep these around for any late-night coding I have to do.

If you are looking for a tasty mint to freshen your breath, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a mint to give you a quick pick-me-up with a blast of caffeine, Foosh Energy Mints may be just what you need. The tins of 12 are about $3 each, but look at it this way….what would 12 trips to Starbuck’s cost you? Way more than $3, that’s for sure.

I think that these would work great for people who enjoy their coffee on the way to work. No more having to be looking out for spilled coffee.
