Samuel Adams, beer-brewer extraordinaire, now has chocolate beer. Actually, they have been brewing it since 2003 and it’s a limited edition brew so that’s probably why I haven’t seen it at my local grocery stores.
As with all Samuel Adams brews, Chocolate Bock is made with only the finest ingredients including an exclusive blend of Scharffen Berger(R) cocoa beans from Ghana, which enhance its aroma and the flavor of the two-row pale malt, as well as Munich, caramel, and chocolate malts. This combination of malts with Tettnang and Spalt hops, creates a rich, dark, and satisfying brew. A hint of vanilla is also added to help meld the symphony of flavors together and create a full-bodied taste with a smooth, velvety finish.

It comes in a large 750 ml amber bottle with a specially embossed pewter label and retails for about $15. I’ve never really liked beer much, but this Chocolate Bock sounds really good. After reading the reviews at MyLifeIsBeer.com I really want to try it.
Poking around, I found there are actually a few different breweries that make chocolate beer. I’m going to have to start looking for some of these.
